Contrary to popular belief, The air gap faucets are designed to prevent backflow into your reverse osmosis unit by using a "backflow prevention" method known as an "air gap." It has three tubes instead of one (one for upward drain water, one for downward drain water, and the third for the unit's product water, which you drink), and it has a non-return valve. There is only one water line that runs up to the faucet on an air gap faucet. Reverse Osmosis systems can use either of these types. So much nicer than the standard chrome filter faucet with the push button. It almost matches my oversized kitchen faucet, which has a slightly darker finish than the filter faucet, but that's no big deal because it's not chrome or satin nickel. Our osmosis system installer complimented the fixture and said it was easy to install, even drilling the granite.
I decided to purchase this Trywell faucet after trying others that were not completely free of internal plastic materials. While other faucets appeared to leach particulates into the water, this truly stainless steel faucet passed the ppm test with flying colors. Furthermore, the water flow and outlet pressure are significantly higher than those of other models I've owned. br>Installation was a little more difficult than I had anticipated, but I had to blame some of it on the fact that I had to work around a rather bulky disposal unit under my sink. br>To summarize, I am extremely pleased with this Trywell faucet and would highly recommend it.
For a newly renovated kitchen, a black faucet is ideal. Love it. The main faucet and soap dispenser, which are more expensive, go together beautifully.
