The Kerdi membrane must be used to cover the shower bench once it has been installed.
Yes, it is possible. I didn't have to cut the bench, but I did have to cut the shower curb, which is made of the same material as the bench. With a handsaw, you can cut the material quickly and cleanly. Be aware that the bench has hollow cavities rather than being completely solid.
Calling the manufacturer is something I'd recommend. They were very helpful in responding to our questions, and they even designed the floor section's required cuts.

simple to use - Even for a beginner, it's quite pricey for what amounts to packing foam.

Excellent product.
Another excellent product with a simple installation. We had a 40-inch-long wall to work with, and the 32-inch-long bench would be ideal. This item was used in conjunction with a Schluter-type product. Showering kit from Kerdi.
It was an excellent solution. We use them on a daily basis, just like the rest.
