Questions & Answers
The answer is yes if your walls are 90 degrees. When the kerdi membrane is installed, the pitch is about 1/4 to 5/16.
It will hold up to 500 pounds once tiled (completed).
You could put it against the Durock, but then you'd have to cover the entire bench, floor, and part of the wall with kerdi. To secure it to the walls and floor, you'll need all four corner pieces.
The Kerdi bands and corners are available for purchase separately.

It's pricey, but it makes installing a tiled bench in my shower a whole lot easier. You'll need the "Schluter KERS-II" to ensure a smooth installation. Neo- Model: Angle Corner Membrane Kit KERSB135K" is a placeholder for KERSB135K, which means It's hard not to appreciate Amazon's free shipping on such a large item.
This has to be one of the most expensive pieces of polystyrene foam available, short of a professional surfboard. However, if you aren't an uber-rich person, It's probably the simplest way to get a small corner bench in a tiled shower if you have a competent tiler. Because the seat isn't particularly spacious, it's unlikely to accommodate someone who is truly superhuman. It's a little small, but it's plenty big enough for my 200-pound rear. It was fairly simple to install, but keep in mind that the seat must be well bedded in mortar beneath it to achieve stability and must be mudded to the wall, and the entire assembly must be covered with Schluter membrane according to their instructions for a perfect seal. Because the seat does not have a natural pitch, it is necessary to lay the top tile(s) so that the back corner is slightly higher than the front edge, preventing water from pooling.
The bench is exactly as described, and it is in excellent condition. Our shower is currently awaiting tile installation. If you want a bench in your shower, this is a good option because it's lightweight (rather than the concrete blocks our tiler suggested) and large enough to use while remaining small enough not to obstruct the shower space.
It is a little more expensive than other bathroom infrastructure options, but the products are of high quality.
