The connection between the flapper and the valve failed. This assembly had to be replaced. While dismantling the toilet tank was not particularly enjoyable, I was able to complete the task in about 20 minutes after watching YouTube videos. Additional hardware (tank to bowl) is required for installation. Before dismantling the tank, I took a digital photo of it, and when putting it back together, I matched the orientation to the photo.
I'm unable to provide feedback on how the product performs because the lower gasket - Between the tank and the bracket, there is a gasket. was not present. The Flush Valve was installed without replacing the current gasket, but the tank began to leak. The gasket is still "in short supply" everywhere, and there are no "universal" parts that will fit this toilet. To this point, I have not been able to locate a 3" (inner diameter) gasket. EDIT: br>br> I purchased a sheet of rubber at Home Depot and created my own gasket. The Flush Valve performs as expected, with no leaks discovered one week after installation.
I'm not sure why Delta manufactures a toilet and then fails to provide parts for it. Neither do I understand why HD sells it. But, for the time being, this part appears to be working properly.
It accomplishes the task at hand. Quick and silent.
Replace the part of the toilet that needs to be replaced and it will be as good as new.
It's fantastic.
