The old shower was destroyed after a terrible termite infestation forced my elderly parents to tear it down. I am currently helping them rebuild the shower. Upon doing some extensive comparison shopping I noticed the R8716W sells for $25 and is white. I found it was the perfect replacement for their old grab bar, as they specified it needed to be white and no longer than 16". A Moen grab bar named "LR8716W" was on sale for $32, but it was the same price as the 81. This is a pretty big price difference and I was going nuts trying to figure out what the "L" stands for in the product information. Additionally, the LR817W's product information lists its dimensions as 3 x 24 x 3, which is not consistent with the actual dimensions. The overall width of a grab bar is 24 inches, why? So I contacted Moen directly and spoke with their customer service department, since it didn't make any sense. My conversation with the representative was a little confusing as well regarding the "L" designation, so she placed me on hold until she could clarify. LR8716W and R8716W are EXACTLY the same product. The only difference was that the "L" designation was assigned to a select few sellers who were authorized to provide this product. Sears was one of them, but I do not remember all the names. It can be found at Walmart, Target, Amazon, and Ebay. She went on to say that the R8716W model number is more common at retail place such as Walmart, Target, and Amazon. Using the Moen website would guarantee the exact specifications for the product LR8716W. She agreed with me that the product information listed for this model seemed inaccurate and recommended that I visit that site directly for product details. I hope you found this useful!

Nice color and feel more than what I have seen in a doctor's office or resort. The peened feel definitely adds more grip. It does not hurt my hands when I am wet just like some of those with cross hatch patterns. As well as the screws, these are covered, unlike the Invicare brand, which is sold for twice the price by medical shops/medicaid.
Make sure you get good screws from a reputable store, like what I did.

It was only the Flange Covers on the ends that I had problems with. In order to get them to fit, you need to play with them a bit.
