Questions & Answers
An inner brass fitting carries the threads of the inner part. An adaptor must be soldered to the copper in order to connect to the brass. If it were easy to assemble it, the brass would just slip into the copper.
Check valves for backflow prevention are included with the 98351 model.
I had been in a bind for three months and could not wait any longer. Kohler offers many lengths, but they were three months backlogged. To make it the right length, I cut out my tubes with a tubing cutter, got a copper union from Home Depot, and soldered it onto the two ends of the nipple. Worked like a charm.

Recognize that this product will definitely require a great deal of insight. My purchase of the book gave me access to what it has been said about. Unless you are skilled with soldering brass and copper, regardless of how far back your shower fitting is located in your bathroom, you will definitely need to know that the length of the nip that this fitting comes with is highly dependent on how far back your shower fitting is situated. With this adapter, the nip will reach from first surface of the wall to the surface of the female threads, for a depth of 1 13/16" to 2 5/16" (it may be 1 5/16" to 2 13/16" depending upon the direction of the instructions). Using what I got, my fitting would have extended about 1" from the wall with the adjustable part all the way in or collapsed. About an inch's worth of adjustment is possible. Since I didn't want to order a new part, I cut the brass nipple down 1 1/4" with a pipe cutter and soldered a 1/2" cu male adapter on (the nipple's OD is the same as the pipe's). I was able to do that in no time. You might want to opt for another shower 90 suck like the one made by Moen as not everyone is able to do this. I am very pleased with this item from Kohler. Very You will need to remove both the o rings before heating the pipe below or if you have a plumber cut it down for you. It has two grooves for o rings that fit into a 90-degree angle, so there is nothing you can do about it. On the other end is a pipe thread made from 1/2" steel.
Drop ell of this quality will be hard to find, and at this price it's as good as you can get. Printed on a super thick Nickel/Chrome plate over solid brass. * The provided nipple has a grub retainer that snaps into place. With an adaptive coupling and MIP, it is easy to shorten and lengthen as needed. It is solid brass and 1/2" OD so it can be cut. This is a heavy piece that is both lightweight and strong. thinly sliced the brass nipple provided in the kit and sweated on a 1/2" copper MIP close to the flange to make this fit tight on a 3/4" wood panel. There is quite a bit of adjustment available with the slip fit and the grub retainer.
It's a well made part and it comes with a supply adapter (that screws into the place where the shower head might be installed) that will work if the length from the wall to the beginning of the screw threads is 1 in. To 13/16 but not to 2 The width of the inch is 5/16. The situation was not the same for me. There was a distance of 1 mile between me and you. Since the part was only 5 inches, the instructions told me the Kohler part number I needed to order for it to adapter that comes with it, there are 6 others available for distances between 0 and The width of the inch is 5/16. )
That seems simple, so I look on Kohler's website and prepare to order the part. The part, with shipping, is $30, so be sure to use that when determining the cost of this.
But that's not the real issue. My order was placed even though the part number I needed was out of stock, but I would receive it in about 70 days after placing it. that's a month and a half. There have been two and a half months since my last post. Therefore, I opted to fix it on my own. has the same outside dimensions as 1/2 inch copper pipe, so I went to the hardware store on my way home and bought a copper pipe union for 1/2 inch copper pipe. I then cut the Kohler brass adapter about 1/2 inch from the threaded end with my hacksaw. After removing the rubber o-ring, I then inserted my drill into the stud There is 1 inch of brass pipe left on that end of the pipe after removing the brass rings. In order to join the two brass pieces, cleaned up the copper joinery and soldered it in place. A conductive metal is copper (and brass). Taking off the rubber o-ring, I installed it again I haven't encountered any issues with the rings or adapter modified for my use.
Some others have mentioned it as well. A supply adapter comes with the unit, and there are seven different lengths available. Unless you live in a tract home, you have about a 1 percent chance of being hit with a hailstorm The chances of it fitting are 7 out of 10. There is even a list of part numbers on the instruction sheet so you know what parts to order. What do you know? There are no part numbers for those models Kohler provided me with a price twice. Once I was quoted a steep price until I shopped around and found that these are hard to obtain. Then if I called Kohler back and complained bitterly, they offered to send me one for free, but said they are not in stock and I need to wait a month or more. There is a solid brass tube hidden inside the wall, sublet to a cable The component for each of the 1000 different plumbing kits they sell is almost certainly the same! After I'm done, I'll have the one that arrived in the box left over There's probably someone else who will enjoy the part just right for them It is a waste of time and money Getting business done in this way is crazy.
It's wood, not plastic, and works perfectly. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the fact that the tube was too long for me. It's a great product. Depending on the length appropriate to your installation, Kohler offers about six tubes with different lengths and you must call Kohler to order a different tube if the one you have is not the right one. If they let you specify your tube preference, it would be more convenient.
There is likely to be a need to purchase an additional adapter. You should be aware of these things It was not explained to me when I bought this item that an additional adapter would be needed (1 of six sizes offered in the directions). Before ordering this item, I recommend you read the instructions so that you can see what adapter you will need so you can order it at the same time. This will ensure you have your complete item by the time you need it and that you know the full price for the item.
The fit and finish are excellent, and insulation was almost effortless except for the need for a very large allen wrench to tighten the brass fittings into the water pipes.
There is a need for better instructions for assembling the product. It would also be good to have a selection chart for the tubes needed to mount it.
