Because the edges are more rolled and do not have a hard crease, the screen came folded, but mine was not creased. Because it is a soft, flexible product, folding it will not harm it. I don't see any creasing after spending the summer in direct sunlight. I used it to make five new large screen windows and a sliding door screen. If I ever need to replace more screens, I'll buy it again.
The screens are, in fact, made of high-grade fiberglass. UV protection is provided by fiberglass.
It's translucent, but it also acts as a privacy screen.
Yes, it should be removed from the track first, but it was incredibly simple to accomplish!

I had no idea the screen could be replaced, so I went to the big orange store to get one. After returning home for $50, I noticed that the very cheap door did not fit as well as the original. I returned to Big Orange and paid $75 for a higher-end (but still junk) screen door to replace the old one. only to end up with the same outcome as the first door. I later discovered (after the fact) that the original screen door (as well as the channel) was narrower than typical doors, so I decided to look into possible repairs. and discovered that it is in fact quite simple. Bottom Line: For only $18, I found this kit that includes the spline, spline tool, and screen. It's a fantastic investment, but you only get one shot at it. br>br>Overall, this was a very simple and quick repair that saved me a lot of money. However, I was on the verge of making a blunder with this. As I began to seat the spline, my initial use of the spline tool (larger roller) tore a small section of the screen material; fortunately, I had enough room to slide the screen over and avoid the torn area. On my second attempt, I tweaked my technique slightly, which resulted in a fantastic result. What I've Discovered So Far: Despite the fact that the spline is quite thick, I used the tool's narrower roller to avoid any further tearing. br>br>Bottom Line: This is a fantastic, low-cost kit that includes a lifetime spline tool (do not buy the plastic spline tool). So all you'll need to buy next time is a screen and possibly more spline (which is highly recommended). The only drawback is that the screen material is somewhat fragile; as previously stated, it tore a little when I used the larger roller on the spline tool with very little force. But I'm going to blame it on user error. When I switched to the smaller roller, the door looked fantastic. This is an excellent set. I would purchase this product again.
This is a FOLDED screen. After two days of being left out on the bed, the folds haven't gone away. Worse, the screen material is far too thin, tearing easily when attempting to place spline, and there are better tools for rolling spline into grooves. br>Buy screen in a roll [Loews] is my recommendation. Without tearing, it was placed for the first time. and there are no folds. br>Also, double-check that the spline is the right size for your doorframe.
This product performed admirably and was simple to set up, and I easily saved $50. Despite the fact that this spline was too thick for my screen door, I simply reused my old spine, which worked perfectly.
So, first and foremost, I'd like to comment on the screen's excellent quality. The items, on the other hand, come with no instructions. Which is somewhat acceptable because I can simply watch videos on YouTube. The issue is that there isn't a YouTube channel dedicated to this product that I could find, so I'm sort of piecing together the video as I go, which works for the most part. Unfortunately, because this was my first time installing a screen and I didn't have proper instructions, I ended up damaging the screen, rendering it useless. It tore around the edge, returning me to my previous position. Now that I've done it once, I can see where I went wrong, but it's a bit pricey and absurd to have to "learn from your mistakes" for only $20. If you know what you're doing and have done it before, this set will suffice; however, if you're a first-timer, make sure to look for one that comes with instructions tailored to the product you've purchased, or you'll end up wasting $20 like I did.
The screen's toughness and feel were both appealing to me. The spline worked perfectly for frames that were originally designed for a smaller diameter, so it appears to last a long time. The tool was the only issue I had with it. If you miss the spline by just a fraction, the roller's edges are sharp enough to lacerate the screen. Because I had cut into the edges of two of my windows without realizing it until later, I had to get a tool with nylon rollers and replace the screens on both of them. I'm unable to use the tool and have had to purchase more after wasting half of the screen. Oh well. It was a good lesson.
It comes with everything you need, including the screen, twine, and a roller with two sizes on the ends. The mesh on the screen appears to be of good quality and feels sturdy. The twine is about 1/8" thick and fits very tightly and tightly! The issue I had with this was that when I went to replace my ripped screen, I realized it wasn't a one-man job - To cut and install the twine around the screen, you must stretch it and hold it tightly in place. I also discovered that if the roller comes into contact with the screen while rolling/forcing the twine into the groove, it rips right through it! So, after a few tears, I decided not to use it. As a result, the installation was much more difficult than it needed to be. It worked fine in the end, but it was more difficult and time-consuming than it should have been.
Extra-large screen allows you to trim it down to the exact size you need for your screen. When I was rolling down the black sealing tube, it tore a little. I wasn't expecting the material to stretch or tear when I tried to stretch it out because it appeared to be strong. Because I'm so small, I might have used too much force with the tool. However, the screen looks great and is less expensive than a new screen door. It was well worth the effort!.
Don't be fooled by the low cost of the kit package. The screen is folded into a 12" x 12" square when it is delivered. When it's fully opened, it has a distinct fold pattern that makes getting a firm screen impossible. It's also possible that the cord isn't the right size for your door or window frame. The large screen door was not for me. The cord was a little too short. Purchase a rolled screen as well as the appropriate cord for your use. You can pick from a variety of diameters.
