I couldn't afford the tools I found to install them, so I made my own with some YouTube inspiration. You'll need something to act as a sleeve (in my case, the socket) to apply the compressive force and keep the rivnut from spinning in the hole. Once that's done, ratchet down on the bolt that runs the length of the tool / nut while maintaining downward pressure on the nut. When using a power tool, I discovered that it's easy to overtighten and break the nut, so be cautious when using one. br>br>Once installed, the nut appears to work flawlessly. It has no trouble keeping my allen key set in its place on the side of my toolbox.
The Rivnuts are in perfect working order and are of excellent quality. But a description that includes a callout for a proper drill size for proper riveting grip would be nice, and it would make it a lot easier to do a better, higher-quality job. If the hole is too small, the rivet will not go all the way through. The rivet will not grip/clamp/fasten to hold what it was designed for if it is too large. This is a straightforward announcement. 23/64" or 9 is a good example of this. 1mm or. This would be more convenient for the average home user. Aside from that, five stars.
I ordered by accident, but the rivnuts appear to be of good quality (at least from the outside). It cCuame in packaging that kept the items inside from getting too mixed up; I noticed extra tape over the case to ensure it doesn't open during shipping; and there are adequate markings,,,such as identification of quantity and size, small parts/choke hazard warning for children, and so on. br>br>I am satisfied with customer service and appreciate their prompt response to a return request.
Drill a hole in whatever material you want to use the nut through (it can't be too thick, no more than. 080" or 2mm) and install it with your installation tool (which you supply) and presto, you've got solid threads to attach something to that you can solidly tighten.
My smittybily nutsert tool was used to crush the nuts evenly. For a waterproof attachment point for accessory mounting on an off-road trailer, sika sealant was applied to the insert and bolt threads.
You'll be using nutserts all the time once you get used to them.
They've all been thrown on the table to be sorted through. I reassembled the box by hot gluing the dividers in place.
It was ideal for my side-by-side construction and equipment installation.
