my understanding of your question is correct, the top of the box is squared off so the key can be stored there. The round part of the key will remain visible after vertically inserting the key downward. I would say it's just for storage, not to insert the key to open up the box. Here is what I hope will help. Had I realized this was one key, I would have realized what was going on. This statement hadn't occurred to me until I checked it just now. The shipping was listed as "one day shipping" when I ordered but I was actually under the impression that it would arrive the next day. It took me three days to get it. I must say, though, that it works on my hunter box just as it should on the key. (I guess these keys are made of gold, since the contractor who installed my controller box insisted they didn't It's the locks only). There's another one for one at Ace. I'll go get it cut at that place.

Instead of purchasing the overpriced CH751, order OEM CH751

The price is too high. This key was ordered since it indicated it was for hunter and rainbird units, and those keys indicated 751CH is the correct key to use. Another supplier also offered a ten pack of CH751s, hoping the "CH" in the name wouldn't matter, and these also worked at a fraction of the cost of the CH751s.

There was a high turnover of landscaping at the HOA company, and no one ever had keys to According to my understanding, they are similar in most respects. Rainbird boxes opened with this key just fine. Now, I can use this key to access the sprinkler system when we're between companies and need to turn it on or off, or do whatever else needs to be done. Who would not want one of these for a landscape business? So when they say they need one, I point them to Amazon, and they are free to purchase on their own.
