I had my doubts, but I was pleasantly surprised. The build quality is excellent, and it takes less than 5 minutes to install. Great for apartments because landlords are unlikely to notice and/or be bothered by four screw holes in the door sill if a little paint is used to cover them up. br>br>They're simple to use and tamper-proof. proof, not bulky or inconvenient, and extremely strong br>br>Just one of these on a door will significantly slow someone trying to get in, and two of them will almost certainly prevent anyone from kicking it open. In my opinion, it is far safer than a deadbolt. br>br>The screws that come with the kit aren't the best, so make sure you use pilot holes if you plan to use them. However, for an extra $3, I think stopping by a Home Depot or Loews for higher quality screws is worth it.
My child had locked me out using the bottom latch; fortunately, the top one was out of reach. It took me almost an hour while listening to the kid laughing while I had to literally bend the door to manage to slip by the latch because the latch wasn not flush 10 I tried kicking the door down with my entire body weight against it, but all I did was bounce off it. I'm drenched in sweat, and the time it took me to get in proved that this product is accurate. I was a little skeptical at first but 100% it was worth it.
So it was nice to find a set of the same design for around $14 that worked just as well as the chrome ones. The chrome looked better against the white door frames. It's not a big deal, though, given the price. It's a cost-effective way to add a layer of security and peace of mind to your home. If you have family members who suffer from neurological degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's or dementia, this is an excellent item to have on hand. They were discovered to be useful for this purpose by a family member.
A total of four were ordered. To be extra safe, I installed two on my front door. br>br>Like many others, I had a problem with the screws that came with them. During installation, a number of the screw heads broke and twisted. When installing these, I recommend using 4 inch screws that you have on hand.
These are fantastic; they provide me with much-needed peace of mind, particularly at night. They're built to last, though I doubt a single unit could withstand 800 pounds of force. Two on the same door are probably more capable of withstanding that amount of force.
It's perfect for keeping toddlers in, and it'd add a layer of protection against intruders. I'm glad I came across it. I'd given up hope and was doubtful that anything could prevent my son from wandering outside on his own. I gave this a shot with trepidation and ended up purchasing more. The only issue is that it might not work if your door isn't flush with the wall.
My husband insisted on getting these for both our home and our daughter's home, so I ordered them. He describes his locks as "fabulous. " Far superior to a standard flip lock, and capable of withstanding extreme brute force. They're simple to close and open, and they're extremely durable.
It's only as strong as the door and frame, so don't expect it to keep an intruder out completely. However, common sense dictates that. I'm blown away by the level of craftsmanship.
