It consists of only the jamb shield and door shield in the Door Armor Mini Combo Set. In the larger Door Armor MAX set (larger), you will find a door shield, jamb shield, and hinge shield. It is always recommended that you opt for the Door Armor MAX set, since it will protect your hinges too. Compared to the Door Armor Full kit, the Door Armor Mini kit is more cost-effective.

To get one that wasn't too warped, I had to order three of these. After contacting the company, they offered to help, but ultimately we decided to just return it and order from Amazon instead. One order had a problem with the screws that came with it, which were silver as opposed to the bronze color of the unit. I found that the armor piece had warped and scratched my door in the process. My final attempt to get the correct size was to take it to the garage and bend it to the correct shape after three failed orders. To ensure this will work, be sure the width between the door and the frame is a little bigger than 2/3 the width of the door. Make sure to install the program carefully as well. As soon as I screwed in the 4 inch screws, it pulled the entire door frame in by about an inch and a half. As I took my frame apart and reshimmed in the center, the door began to feel loose. We had to deal with a lot of difficulties. Having the door plates cause air gaps is another issue I run into. My weather stripping no longer looks effective. The Armor concepts weather stripping I ordered is much larger than the previous striping I was using. By pushing it back nearly 1/8 inch, my door was almost a full inch further back. I have problems with my electric lock because of this. In order for the deadbolt to lock, the door armor plate had to be ground down. This has been a very difficult process for me to get.
There is an excessive price tag on this item. Hardware made of metal is not particularly impressive, and replacement screws are also weak. In addition, the car is a bit In real life, the requirement is longer. The description calls for 1/8th of an inch, but in reality the measurement is nearly Therefore, if your door is tight or even fits well, this may not be the best option It was easy to handle and to understand, has a good It was very easy to install, however the door in question was a low quality extremely poorly crafted door frame etc so I didn't even have to remove the original hardware as it was simply installed on top and screwed into place with some super heavy duty wide-head Taking away a whole star for lame hardware, I want the product to have components that are superior to what the next door hardware store offers If the cheap hardware fails and you die, all the quality you pay for does not matter. I'm sorry about the doorarmor, maybe you should cut your YouTube budget and put in a few pennies to upgrade to a trustworthy product.
It worked flawlessly and I had no trouble installing it. As part of my Christmas gift to my parents, I received a kit that came bent out at the bottom and included screws that were noticeably softer or cheaper. However, although I predrilled the holes, one screw head still twisted off and caused the other screw heads to be mutilated. Below are images that explain what I mean. When it comes to doors being installed, the door armor is still worthless since it smashes the Rather than buying the full kit, replace your door hinge screws with #10x3" outdoor screws and you will be fine. I have included a photo with my preferred screw type. They are more fun for me when they are threaded down the whole length.
This product is designed to fit on any door, according to the claim. I bought two of them after seeing the installation video that made it look ridiculously easy. Your house was not built by the 3 Stooges, otherwise the gaps between the jamb and the door are too small for the steel plates to fit in between. The door reinforcements were installed before I had checked the clearance for the striker plates, and when I went to fit the striker plates, I had to remove some of the knock-down. I can't just return everything here, since I have run out of outs. Maybe this is a good project for a carpenter if he's able to create a custom template and set up the router to cut a mortise for the plates vertically without removing the casing and jamb. The product should not be purchased if that is the case.
You will need to work a bit. A review from more than ten years ago was interesting to read It was mentioned that the hardware was poor I thought the screws that came with this were excellent, though perhaps they have changed over time. A bit was included in the kit, and they were torx. I can't find anything to complain about. There was a lot of punching out of the metal and it was heavy and finished well. As a customer, I agree with one review in that they should include short screws to use for positioning. However, I managed to do so simply enough. When I finally got it in place and adjusted it, it did just what I wanted so there is no complaint. Be prepared for a fair amount of labor unless you have a door and frame that exactly match what they used. Here are a few The instructions say to pre-record the speech You will need to drill holes to accomodate the screws There is no 3" 9/64 bit in my collection. Despite having drill bits of all sizes and diameters, none of them reach that diameter. It's a good thing that the torx screws they provide have a cutting edge at the end, just like spax construction screws. It requires an impact driver, however, so I can get the screws It seems likely that you will need either a very long drill bit or some sort of tool to pre-drill It requires an impact driver or drill (as well as some patience and strength). There is also a curved edge of the jamb shield facing inward, which looks nicer, and also acts as a guide for the edge of the door In my case, the trim pushed that curved part out, making the shield impossible to lay flat. This prevented me from closing the door properly. The solution? The trim can either be planed down (what I did) or the shield can be ground off. Finally, when the door was inserted into the area under the weather stripping, the bolt holes for the latch and lock did not quite align. As a result, I had to prepare the opening by using a dremel with a grinding bit. Basically, this can be summarized as follows Aside from following the directions, I also needed an impact driver, a dremel grinder and some planes (shoulder planes are perfect if you have access to This is where it gets interesting I was not surprised by any of this The fact that I had to do some of it was no surprise to me. There is a difference between the corners of my door jamb and the center of my house. This means you are not required to plane the opening or grind it. The frame must remain accessible so that you can screw a 3" screw in. Ultimately, it took me about 3 hours to complete the installation. That was pretty much what I was expecting. I forgot to mention this It is a credit to them as well They give you extra 3" screws, which you can use to replace some of the short ones in your hinges if you buy the mini kit, which does not include hinge shields. That earns them a lot of points in my book. The reason screws are so costly is not because they are scarce. But the fact they assist you despite the fact that you didn't get the maximum kits speaks for itself.
In conclusion, I still recommend the kit so even though it is expensive, I think it is worth it There will be some extra work to do.
