As far as I'm concerned, it's solid stainless steel in my 60 years of experience. PE Guy Hammer
You will be able to slow down access with it.
About 1 3/4" wide
The question you asked doesn't make sense to me. The answer is no, there is no space under this for a handle. It is intended to cover the protrusion of the strike plate to prevent prying of the latch. An added feature is the 1/4" rise under the left side, as well as the gap for the tongue to extend through.

They are only for commercial use. It had to be returned, do not bother us if you need it for residential use, the size is too large and it will be difficult to install because it is made for commercial use. If you're looking to use it on a residential house, you shouldn't buy it. You'd have to buy it for commercial applications. It's way too wide to be able to use it on domestic settings.
There is a problem with the bolts that come with it, they are small and not stainless steel. The five-foot carriage bolt head was threaded with a quarter-inch thread using a 5/16 carriage bolt head. When tightening it onto the door, it will snap off if the acorn nut doesn't bottom out first.
Be prepared to buy stainless steel 5/16" carriage bolts, washers, and/or locknuts/acorn nuts. If you need to enlarge the circle area, you will need to spend an hour grinding it.
I have no reason to worry that anyone can open my door with a screwdriver as it is excellent, sturdy and easy to install. Do not forget that if you misplace your keys, you will not be able to open your car.
The metal used to make bolts is very cheap. While tightening the bolt nut, I had to jump up and down on the bolt I can tell from the fact that it snapped off the bolt that if someone tried to break in they would snap the bolts off easily with a crowbar. This thing is worthless unless it comes with stronger bolts.
A weak bolt is a problem. The site is insecure. By gently tightening the hand, the bolts can easily be undone. I don't recommend buying.
Strike cover with a heavy duty construction. If you can, get some stainless steel screws so it doesn't rust. But keep in mind that they'll slow the prying process A burglar armed with a bar is on the loose. Guards the point on the door where it is most vulnerable.
This product was exactly what we were looking for.
The locking mechanism is kept from being damaged by jimmying, and it locks well into place and looks nice at the same time. I would recommend it highly.
