Kwikset 97402-732 740TNL 15 SMT CP Tustin K4 Entry Lever, Satin Nickel

It's simple to put together (follow the instructions carefully!). I recently bought a house and had to replace all of the locks. After looking at several different brands, I decided on the Kwikset Tustin Entry lever because I wanted to use the same key for all of my doors. This was chosen over the knob type because it appears to be cleaner and more stylish. The nickle finish breathes new life into an old door. I had a minor hiccup with installation at first, but that was entirely my fault because I chose not to read the instructions. The following two installations were quick and painless after the first. This re-imagining appeals to me greatly. a crucial feature I had originally purchased these at a big box hardware store and only needed one key to 'open' them all. Amazon, on the other hand, offers a lower price. Save money and gas by having it delivered right to your door! The latch, strike, and installation instructions were all missing on BOTH occasions. The first time I returned it, it was due to "missing parts. " br>br>I was irritated to the point of rage. The latch and strike are clearly stated in the description, so I called Kwikset to double-check - 97200 is the item number for this item. The latch and strike are supposed to come with the 706; the latch is a 6-point latch. It's two-way adjustable, which means it has two different-shaped faceplates that mount to the side of your door, as well as a drive-in option that doesn't require the faceplate. They informed me that the telephone number was 97200. The door on 701 has only one faceplate, but the latch can be adjusted to two different setback lengths. In any case, the latch and strike plate should have been included in this item, which I ordered twice from Amazon. br>br>Due to "missing" parts, Kwikset graciously sent me a latch and strike. br>br>I gave Amazon one star because they sell items that don't match the description. This is a fantastic lever set because it includes all of the necessary components.

I was expecting the lock handle to come in the same box as the one I bought at Home Depot, but it didn't; instead, it came in a plain brown cardboard box. If you're familiar with the term, it appears to be an OEM box. The lock's handle and inner workings don't appear to be in good working order. I recently purchased the same lock handles from Home Depot, and all I can say is that the Kwikset version from Home Depot looks nicer. This one has a shabby appearance to it. It could be the genuine article, but it appears to be a knockoff. The screws are different, as well as the metal on the inside. It's fine for my needs, but there's a reason you're paying $35 for something that costs $48 in HD.

Doorhandles, on the other hand, are a practical luxury in my opinion. Kwikset doorhandles have replaced all of our doorknobs in our house. If you've never used doorhandles before, you'll quickly realize that they're more of a functional necessity than an upgraded luxury once they're installed. Why? Because it's so much easier to open a door with an armload of goodies. Of course, this pales in comparison to the difficulty of attempting to operate a doorknob while carrying the same armload of goodies. )br>br>Note: )br>br>Note: )br>br>Note: )br>b This type of door hardware is divided into three categories: ANSI Grade 3, ANSI Grade 2, and ANSI Grade 1 are the three grades that are recognized by the American National Standards Institute. br>br>Upgrading from Grade 3 to Grade 2 results in a "very" noticeable difference in both look and feel, as well as build quality. To me, going to a Grade 1 is pointless unless you plan on working in a hospital where orderlies will be crashing into the door handles with a food cart on a regular basis. The difference between a Grade 3 and a Grade 2 in terms of appearance and feel is night and day. In that the Grade 2 product has a completely solid, well-made, happy feel versus the light fluffy look/feel of the Grade 3 product, I highly recommend spending the extra few dollars on Grade 2 products in your search for a replacement or upgrade, whatever your choice of product might be. You'll be rewarded for your efforts with the daily personal pleasure and satisfaction (pride) that having and using a Grade 2 door handle brings. Switching out old hardware and installing replacement doorhandles in existing cutouts is a breeze if you're replacing Kwikset with Kwikset. This model has been used to replace all of the interior doorknobs in my home. It's a straightforward and uncomplicated design. They're simple to set up and can be done either left or right handed. Because of my wife's rapidly deteriorating hand dexterity, I switched to lever knobs. When you can't get a good grip on things, or, as in my case, when your hands are full of laundry or groceries, these are a breeze to open. To be able to use the Smart Key feature, which is a life saver, I've installed matching external knobs (security). These doorknobs have exceeded my expectations. br>br> It is, after all, a doorknob. What's there to complain about if it matches your aesthetic and turns and locks when you need it?.

So, this isn't a product review, but rather a shipping review. I have a number of Kwikset Tustin door knob sets, and they are both functional and attractive. br>br>There was nothing in this box: it wasn't sealed, it wasn't taped shut, nothing. The door is wide open. When I opened the box, there was nothing inside, including no door knob, which came as no surprise to anyone. There are a few pieces of mounting hardware to be had. However, there is no doorknob. br>br>I'm going to try returning it to Amazon and getting a replacement. That worries me a little. Because I'm returning an empty box, I expect my credit card to be charged again. br>br>This has enraged me greatly.
