Questions & Answers

I need a "double dummy" for a french door that connects on the front and back sides. I know this is a single dummy, but I need a kwikset halifax double dummy for a french door that connects on the front and back sides?

Simply remove the insides/latch and replace with a regular passage door handle. It was only put to the test recently.

Is there a front and back handle on this?

Yes, the front and back were included in ours. These closets don't have a lock.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with my French doors. What about the other side? I have privacy on one side, but not on the other. ?

If the door already has a hole, a privacy lock handle can be used; however, the internal components should not be used. Simply join the two face plates with handles by screwing them together.

What's the backplate's dimensions? I need 3. 5"?

It's two for me. 5 by 2. 5 inches. br>I hope this has given you some inspiration. Every minute of it is a blast for me! br>Best of luck to you.

The following are some of the differences between the new and previous versions
5/5

I couldn't decide between the old and new versions because the product images don't explain the differences well enough. As a result, I purchased both and photographed them. The new version is a little more substantial. Not only does the weight require more force to turn, but the lever as well. It's also more densely packed than the previous version, with no empty spaces in the back. Both seem to be moving in the same direction. The new version of the phone has a notch on the side, but it serves no purpose. It was created solely to aid in the assembly of parts at the factory. Where the lever is attached on the old version, there is a white ring that shows up. The new version may be a better choice if you want it to be completely black. br>br>I ended up just installing the old version because it seemed to work fine. The lever does sag a little, as other reviews have mentioned. Aside from that, it's a very pleasant experience. Overall, I am pleased.

If the handles were level, it would be perfect
4/5

I bought these to replace the tacky brass knobs that came with my house, and I'm really pleased with them. They're substantial and of excellent quality - This isn't a flimsy handle by any means. It was a breeze to set up - I was able to install the others in about ten minutes each after the first one was completed. What I admire the most about them is how unique they are. In the big box stores, all of the knobs are monotonous. These may be pricier, but they are well worth the money. The only reason I don't give them 5 stars is that I'm a little bit of a nut when it comes to making sure things are level, and while it's simple to make sure the rosette is square and level, the actual handle isn't. It's not horribly off, but it's definitely not level and tilts downward; it'll probably stop bothering me eventually, and other people might not notice it, but if you're a level freak like me, you might be irritated. On a side note, if anyone else has had this issue and has figured out how to fix it, please let me know!.

Internal parts are old, but the design is beautiful
4/5

The design is lovely, and the style is very current. After all these years of making hardware, I figured Kwikset could come up with a quieter latch mechanism. When I turn the handle, I can hear an internal spring, which irritates me. It was also a little annoying that the latch mechanism isn't very responsive, as you have to turn the handle 10 times to get it to open. Before the latch responds, it must be rotated 15 degrees. How difficult can it be to improve on a simple design that has existed for decades? My strike plate and handle are perfectly aligned, and my door closes and closes smoothly with no rattling or commotion. It's also a shame that the handle sags a little when it's sitting there due to the cheap latch mechanism. Most people will not be bothered by this, but it irritates me slightly.

Slope of the interior handle As a result, I bought the halifax levers for privacy, dummy, and passage
3/5

So far, every lever I've installed has a slope on the interior side (the Lock side). With the allen wrench, I've tried numerous times to reposition, adjust, and tighten the handles. As you can see in the attached image, the slope is noticeable. I decided to put a brand new set to the test by connecting the levers together, and the same tilt is noticeable when moving the lever from the lock side to the other side, whereas the passage levers I also purchased do not have this problem. Either I have a slew of bad privacy levers, or this is on purpose. I've seen other posts where people say they just deal with it or that everything is fine, but I don't see how that's possible. I'll contact Kwikset, but I'm looking to buy more than 20 levers, the majority of which are privacy levers. This is a major flaw that should be addressed, or a better mechanism for adjusting the volume should be implemented.

Baldwin Reserve is in close proximity
5/5

I ordered two of the passage levers to match the Halifax door handles I bought from various Amazon sellers. They were in perfect condition when they arrived, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. br>br>The Halifax style lever is one of my favorites because it has a high-end feel to it. It's of good quality and has a modern, minimalistic, almost industrial look to it. The levers are quite large and weighty. My contractor friend was blown away by them and couldn't believe they were Kwikset. "Wow, Kwikset used to be cheap junk that builders installed in track homes," he remarked. "br>br>I like how the Halifax comes with two different strikeplate shapes: The curved radius is square and the square is curved. When replacing existing hardware, this is ideal because it ensures a perfect fit. br>br>Installation was simple for me, but only because I had already figured it out with a previous install. It was a little perplexing the first time, but I eventually figured it out because I refused to accept that they would not fit perfectly. The trick is to figure out whether or not you need to use the enclosed spacers. The latch, strikeplate, and the round one behind the front lever all have their own spaces. TIP: If you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, try using the words "innovative" and "paraphrase. " If your lever doesn't fit or latches shut perfectly, it's most likely because you used the wrong spacer. If the levers feel loose after tightening the screws, replace them with the brass colored round spacer. If it does not fit, it should be removed. If the latch isn't the right length, the spacer should be replaced (there are two options enclosed) or removed entirely. Use the spacer if the strikeplate is too deep, and remove it if it is too shallow. br>br>Along the way to replacing the hardware, I discovered that the Halifax lines are nearly identical to Baldwin's square rose style levers. (I have no idea who copied who. ) ) The Baldwin equivalent appears to be in the $60-$70 range. $65. I don't think there's much of a difference in terms of aesthetics, but Baldwin's version may have a longer shelf life. br>br>On the exterior doors, I used the Baldwin Reserve handle set, and on the interior doors, I used Halifax. They appear to be an ideal match. (I've included a photo of my garage door's Baldwin lever to demonstrate the similarities. ).
