This product and the Kwikset Lido lever door hardware were the two products I was considering. I already had four Lido levers installed on my entry doors, so I decided to keep them. When I decided to try these, I had already ordered the Lido locks, so I was able to compare them side by side. br>br>I've had to replace the latch mechanism on Kwikset locks in the past due to what I consider a design flaw, so I was curious how the Shelby levers were built. On the mechanism of the Kwikset, there are visible wear points. I expect the Shelby latches to outlast me because they have a square metal rod. br>br>There were two other advantages to the Shelby that were minor but important to me, and they influenced my decision. First, there's the privacy lever's locking button. The Shelby handle's locking tab extends slightly further out from the handle than the Kwikset, making it slightly easier to operate. The second, and more important, consideration is how to open a locked door from the outside; the Kwikset has a pinhole into which a probe can be inserted to open the door. In an emergency, the Shelby has a slot where you can insert a coin or screwdriver and turn to unlock the door, making it easier to open a door locked by children or a potentially incapacitated adult. Note: This easily defeats the security aspects of both levers, but it does respect privacy in the vast majority of cases. I recommend a keyed lock or lever, similar to what you'd find on an entry door, for added security where it's needed. br>br>Finally, there is one minor complaint, which results in a score of 4. The two Shelby installation screws are visible on the locking side of the lever, which gives the Shelby a five-star rating over the Kwikset. The screws are hidden by a clever cover plate from Kwikset. I don't think this is a big deal because most people won't notice or care. When you're on the toilet and thinking about life, that's the only time you'll notice. br>br>Finally, I'd like to mention: Both the Shelby and the Kwikset have a solid feel to them, but the Shelby seems to run smoother than the Kwikset. br>One final nuance is that the Shelby looks fantastic when viewed from below. However, the Shelby appears to be a little frail when viewed from afar. It doesn't feel flimsy in any way, but it could be thicker on the outside. It's just a minor quibble. br>The Shelby levers are getting better as I use them more. br>br>You'll save $8 with the Shelby. Over the Kwiksets, there are ten points each. That's more than $200 in my book. There are a total of 19 levers, including the tax lever.

" I'm only going to trust the actual return window now, and I'm not going to favor any "Amazon basics" products over others because it doesn't seem to matter, and we all know they're cheap. I was able to replace the lever knobs on one of my interior doors and one of my exterior doors. For each door, a Philips screwdriver and about 10 minutes were all that was required. Because I have arthritis in both hands, the levers are much easier for me to operate, which is why I decided to try this project, and the levers also look much nicer than my 25-year-old knobs. The quality and workmanship appear to be excellent.
I've been a property manager for a long time. Almost every make and model of door knob/lever was installed/repaired on a regular basis. As a result, I've learned to value door hardware quality, or lack thereof. When it came time to replace a cheap door knob in my new apartment, I decided to try the new AmazonBasics brand, which I found to be of comparable quality to popular brands like Kwikset and Schlage but at a lower cost.
These handles are excellent value for money. They have the same feel and construction quality as products from big box stores. From the extra-deep screws to the additional plate styles, I'm blown away by the attention to detail. With these, Amazon has hit the ball out of the park. My only gripe is that I was unable to obtain keyed alike sets from the entry version. CP-Dynasty Monterey Keyed Alike Entry Hardware was my choice. MON- It has the same aesthetic as 12P. However, I believe the Amazon lock is of higher quality than the Dynasty locks in terms of construction. They're almost certainly made in the same factory in the Philippines, or at the very least use the same suppliers, but the Amazon version is a step up. For example, the Dynasty lacks small lugs on the base plates that extend into the hole to add additional tension and sturdiness. Amazon has done an excellent job.
This was ordered yesterday to replace a broken doorknob I purchased last week for my storage shed's new steel door. The first (Kwikset 94002-Kwikset 94002-Kwikset 94002-Kwik Not only was the 837 Polo Keyed Entry Knob in Polished Brass unsatisfactory, but it was also poorly designed and had a threading defect, rendering it useless. With a quick hammer blow or a hard twist of the channelock pliers, it could have been easily defeated. This product has restored my faith in humanity and was delivered in a single day to resolve my issue. It's a heavyweight, and it's a workhorse Strong and incredibly simple and quick to set up. Once I got started, it took me less than 5 minutes. It's also nicer to look at, and it has the advantage of allowing me to open it with my elbow if I'm carrying an armload. This quality system should make you very happy.
