Questions & Answers

Are the locks based on a kwikset or schlage platform if I wanted to rekey them? Please step away from the keyboard if you don't know what I'm talking about. ?

The lock isn't based on Kwikset or Slage platforms, as far as I can tell.

Is it possible to use the "passage" handle on an exterior door without rusting it?

In this case, the finish is the same whether it is on the inside or outside. You will not be disappointed if you choose this option. This is a fantastic product that competes with Schlage and other high-end levers.

What was the distance between the handle and the door?

2 1/2 inch tall

Is it a lock with a push-button?

No, as shown in the photos, it turns to lock.

I got a great deal on a kit that included everything I needed for a reasonable price
5/5

I couldn't stop the drafts because the old knob was failing, the latch was worn out, and the strike plate had lost all of its adjustability. Because I have a pin latch, this kit included one, making the replacement a breeze. Not all kits include a latch option, and/or they don't state it or show it in the pictures. Over the last 50 years, I've installed and/or purchased hundreds of latches, levers, and knobs, and this is one of the better kits in the under 30-dollar range. Based on first impressions, this is the best bucks category I've seen. . . only time will tell how long it will last and how well it will look, but there are no complaints for now. Although I installed it as a replacement, the template for a door slab or a pre-fabricated door is included. that hasn't been drilled is hung Reversible handles are also included, as is a small tool for doing so. I have five more exterior doors to install, so there will be more changes in the near future. We find it much easier to use a lever style than turning a knob as our hands and wrists age. . . I can open a door by pushing down with an elbow or up with a knee, so no more putting something down first, and I like that it's just as easy to use with either hand. It covered the marks on my steel door from the previous latch and was a very close match to the deadbolt I didn't replace. This type of handle was once known as a Lido, but it appears that "lever" is now the preferred term. It came in the configuration that I needed, despite the fact that it was easily reversible. Because it's a straight handle, there's no need to flip it over like a curved handle would. There are a few issues, one of which is the finish, which appears to be painted over brass because some of it shows through on the strike plate on the first day of use. Most knobs have a small amount of play, but it's not noticeable because you're turning it and it's difficult to see. With a lever, that small movement is much more noticeable because you can see the tip drop down a bit before it starts to engage the latch even with your hand on the lever. It's possible to wiggle it up. down a bit with nothing happening, giving the impression that the lever is loose, but it's simply more noticeable than a knob. If you prefer to have no movement at all, you'll have to move up quite a bit in price ranges, and you won't get much more for it unless it irritates you. Finally, it wasn't a perfect fit on all sides, so I had to drill a little deeper for the pin latch. The strike plate needed to be moved up because it didn't line up with the existing holes. I have to live with the fact that the plate that covers the pin sticks out a little too far, but it is a steel door, so I can't complain. New sets give you more flexibility because the escutcheon plates now appear to be the bare minimum in diameter, so I had to purchase back plates to fill in some gaps. Because there wasn't enough wood left to start a new one because things didn't line up with existing holes, I had to use longer screws to move the strike plate over. . . and the ones that came with it are woefully short. If it works and the keys fit, I'd be hard pressed to find anything wrong with it. I'm not looking for an entry set that will absolutely prevent someone from getting in to the point where they become enraged and break some expensive glass. . . I'm just looking for something to make it inconvenient for them so they'll leave. It's a basic lever set that's neither a fashion statement nor a top-rated home entry deterrent, so it gets a 4-star rating for the price. stars. Moving up to a commercial grade may be a better option if you require more security assurance. It's likely that it won't be a perfect match for a replacement, necessitating additional work, but it should be a little cleaner for a new installation. My steel doors don't all have perfectly cut holes, and I'd rather not try to make them so because it just adds to the amount of material I have to cover. The backset adjustment on the latches is fixed at either 2- or 3-inches, which is an issue with these (I've bought several in various designs/colors). 2" x 3/8" 3/4" and there are times when you just need to get something in- Between and better sets will often have a floating setback determined by the position of the lockset. . . and it's because of that fixed position that my latch pin cover sticks out a little too far. "Made in the Philippines" was the tagline on mine.

Simple to work with
5/5

This product pleasantly surprised me; it was both attractive and durable, as well as simple to install. I decided I wanted this for my kitchen's interior garage door to make it easier to open if I had a full hand. I have a dead bolt on top of that handle, so the lack of a lock wasn't an issue.

Great value for the money, but there was a blemish on it
3/5

* UPDATE- We're getting a new knob from Amazon*. I put them in as soon as they arrived. I was immediately impressed. They're simple to put together and come with a variety of face plates in different sizes. They resemble a high-end doorknob in appearance and feel. They appear to be sturdy; however, when I went to install the final handle, I noticed that it had a small but noticeable scratch on it. (See photo)br>I'm now worried about how easily these will scratch after a while of use. I'm also annoyed that a brand-new product arrived in such a bad state. There's no way it could have been scratched during shipping, in my opinion. This was the only way to package it. br>I needed these right away, so I didn't want to take everything apart and box it up to send it back. I'll make contact to see if a replacement handle is available. br>br>Aside from that, I am immediately impressed. I'll keep you updated as I work through this problem and see how they hold up in the long run. br>br>**UPDATE- Because I had already installed and used the scratched knob, Amazon promptly sent us a replacement without returning the scratched one. In two days, you'll have it. I'll update after I've used them for a while to see how they hold up.

Doorknob of excellent quality
5/5

What can I say, there isn't a whole lot to say. It's a fantastic product that actually works. The texture is pleasing to the touch, and the design is modern. It has a tough feel to it, and when you turn the handle, it has good qualities and moves smoothly. For the money, this is the best purchase you can make. Give it a shot, and if you don't like it, just send it back. The only disadvantage for me is that now that one door has been replaced, I must replace all of my other doors in order to achieve a uniform door handle appearance.

I'm blown away by the quality
5/5

I've tried a few Amazon basic items, and the vast majority of them have worked out fantastically and at a reasonable price; this door handle is no exception. Figures, the Amazon basic handle looks nice, is sturdy, and is a great value for the money, especially when compared to a set of high-end handles I ordered for my front door, where the paint chipped and peeled away after a few months and cost $$$$$. So, yes, this is something I would order again. The only issue I had was that when I installed it, if you screw the handles together too tightly, the handle part does not move correctly, but this is easily fixed by adjusting the screws.

The quality is poor
3/5

I bought these to avoid having to replace all of my door knobs. The first one was excellent, the second had a scratch, and the third had the knob/lever pull away from my hand as I attempted to open the door. I was able to get it to snap back on and stay in place, but I didn't want to pay for poor quality. So I returned everything I'd purchased and went out and bought Schlage, which is what I should have done in the first place. It's all about living and learning.

Great quality for the price, but the design is too sharp and uncomfortable in the hand; it feels like you're opening your door with the blade of a butter knife
5/5

It looks great, but it doesn't feel great in the hand; the resistance is much higher than other door levers, which I like, but it clashes with the sharp edges. This is a brand I will definitely purchase, but with a more rounded lever design.

It's extremely simple to set up
5/5

This was purchased as a less expensive alternative to the Kwikset Delta handles that we have throughout the house. We wanted to add locking handles to a couple of rooms, and these are perfect. After removing the old (non-locking) handles, we installed these. With the help of a small screwdriver and about 10 minutes, I was able to replace the locking) handles with Amazon replacements. The Amazon Basics Cambridge Lever slid right in without me having to unfold the excellent instructions. br>The quality appears to be top-notch and well-crafted. And the price difference between the $19 Amazon item and the $31 Kwikset item is impossible to ignore!.
