I was pleased with these switches at first. I was disappointed that they had no tactile response (no "click") when moved, but they had the function and form I needed, and they appeared to be of good quality. I was completely wrong. br>br>I had no trouble installing one of the two I bought. Before wiring it, I gave it a test run and the entire key cylinder popped out of the hull. The small spring (and switch) inside were able to dislodge as a result of this. After several attempts at replacing the cylinder, I gave up and installed the second one I'd purchased, leaving me one short. I'm hoping the second one holds up better, but there already appears to be a bit too much play in the lock cylinder, which leads me to believe it will eventually fall out as well. I've requested a replacement for the first one, and I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens; I'm not holding my breath. On the plus side, both locks I received were keyed alike as advertised, and the keys appear to be of good quality. I'm not sure about the cut because they're a little difficult to fully insert, but they don't appear to have any issues turning the lock and don't appear to snap off in the lock under normal use like many of the others on offer. br>br>Comes with a flare washer to compensate for oversized holes, but a star or split washer to keep them from loosening up would be nice. br>br>If I had a choice, I'd pay a little more for something of better quality that will last, but this was the only option on Amazon, and it suffices for now. I'll probably look around the electric supply houses to see if there's anything better. When these fail, you have a good option for replacing them.

It was exactly what I was looking for. I installed it in my boat's dash so that the power to the stereo and power amp does not pass through the ignition switch, but rather through this little beauty. I did this so that when I turn off the engine, it doesn't cut power to these for a brief moment (which would happen because it can't go straight from ON to AUX, so it has to go ON-OFF-ON-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF-OFF OFF- AUX) which messes up the Bluetooth connection, causes the power amp to take a second to realize the stereo was turned back on, and generally disrupts the music's groove (which is a bad thing!). I used to have these directly connected to the battery all of the time, but I didn't like it because it meant they were always in standby mode (rather than off) and were a constant drain on the battery. This is significant given that the boat is not used for the majority of the time. It's a great feature to be able to remove the key after it's been set to either ON or OFF. I simply turn on the equipment before we leave, remove the key, and reverse the process when we return. I'm very happy with how it turned out, especially given how quick it was to put together. I probably spent 10 times as much time deciding where to put it as I did actually putting it!.

During a discussion with a couple of car-related people, With the help of our male friends, we devised a simple solution: Install a generic keyed switch in an inconspicuous location and use it as a security system. We identified where the auxiliary wire needed to be run so that this switch could duplicate the ignition circuit because the wiring is simple enough. (Fortunately, the starter motor is energized by a separate pull switch on this car, so there was no need to worry about wiring a high-current circuit. ) Solenoid or load circuit? )br>br>THE DAY THESE PARTS ARRIVED FROM AMAZON, I FOUND A SECOND KEY taped to a letter from the previous owner of my car in an unrelated part of my home filing system. We took it to the storage facility where the car is kept, and it fit perfectly. br>br>All right, let's get started. Once again, simply having the part needed to make a repair eliminates the need for it. The day is saved by Parts Voodoo!.
