On my projects, I use epoxy drawer slides from school. Not because they're pretty or smooth, but because they're the simplest to put together (or so I thought). I wanted to drastically improve the quality of my slides after improving the quality of my work. With some trepidation about the allegedly difficult installation process, I decided to give the best a shot, and these Blum full extension, soft close slides perform flawlessly! They're big and heavy, but they glide so smoothly and quietly. Let me say a few words about the installation procedure. Jon Peters, please! br>You can't go wrong if you watch Jon's YouTube video on how to build the drawers for, and install these slides, and follow his instructions exactly. I want to stress how important it is to follow his instructions to the letter. I was able to install these slides successfully on my first try after watching Jon's video. When it comes to being precise with your measurements, these slides are more forgiving than sidemount slides, which contributed to my success. Trust me, if I can do it, so can any other woodworker. If you're building the drawers from scratch, I must say that these slides are very simple to install. If you try to retrofit these slides into an existing drawer, you'll find that the process is extremely difficult because these slides require very specific drawer dimensions, as Jon Peters explains. br>So don't worry, you'll be fine!.
If I was putting them in a cabinet during the fabrication of new cabinets, I would have given them five stars. However, as a do-it-yourselfer, I gave them three stars for ease of installation because accessing the back of the cabinet to install the rear brackets is difficult for a 65-year-old, short-armed stocky guy. As you can see in the photos, I had to add 1" to the length. The 21" rails are made of 3/4" plywood in the back. It took a little ingenuity and creativity, but it made installing the rear brackets a lot easier. In order to install these rails, I also had to fabricate new drawers and remove a portion of the upper wood drawer track to make room for them. The rail extension and retraction are smooth once installed, with full extension and excellent soft close action.
This was my first time using them. Normally, I use side slides, but the application advised that I use these instead, and they worked perfectly. I'm not going to use it anymore. They're both costly and difficult to set up. Installing standard slides is a chore, but these are even more so. Unless you're making slide-in bottom drawers, you'll need to notch the back of the drawer. Then you must drill locking pin holes in the drawer's back, which must be found by accident. br>Wow, that was a pain.
I was hesitant to purchase these because the pdf installation instructions appeared to be extremely difficult to follow. I was confident that I could handle it after watching a few Youtube videos. I'm overjoyed with how it turned out.
This replacement set of traks was an exact match. The installation was simple, and our trash bin door now functions as it should.
These BLUM slides were recommended for the two drawers I added to my kitchen cabinet. One set of slides did not appear to work with one of the self-adhesive self-adhesive self-adhesive self drawer boxes were constructed It wasn't the drawers or the slides that were the issue. It turns out that the drawer will not retract properly if the distance between the slides in the front is only 1/16" less than in the back. The problem was solved by moving the front of the left slide forward by 1/16".
Installation was more difficult than I anticipated, but I was never able to use it because it arrived nearly a week late. So we returned it because the shipping from either the company or the carrier had gone wrong.
There were no instructions and the package was broken when it arrived. In addition, there was a note in the box stating that the order was "not refundable in any way" and that "damages must be reported within 5 days. " After a few hours of machining, I was able to put it to use, but I would not recommend it to anyone who does not have access to a machine shop.
