I recently purchased one, which now includes a Cleanout Tool - Take a look at the photos I shared.
A float switch is a switch that allows water to float. When the level of the water rises, the gate opens. When the water level falls below a certain threshold, the gate closes. Yes, I believe T fittings come with a switch. Mine is quite effective. I've been saved from several overflows because of it.
safe-rectorseal 97632 Model SS1 switch is code compliant and can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Simple to set up. It doesn't have to be level or plumb to be installed on a slanting line. Cleaning and servicing the condensate drain line is simple with the switch and cap removed.
Yes, there's a chance.

These are effective, but there is one cautionary note to be made. These were purchased to replace the ones installed by our air conditioning contractor a few years ago. Here's where he went astray. We only had a 1/2-inch deep internal dip tray. To activate the safety cutoff function, the switches he installed needed a 3/4-inch rise in water level. br>br>Before your water tray overflows, check to see if the safety cutoff function is activated. Instead of being level with the outlet drain, the safety switch should be installed below the drain outlet. If your line becomes clogged, the water in the switch flow tube will rise to a level high enough to activate the safety feature before the drain pan overflows. We had to learn this the hard way, so I'm passing it on to you.
When I needed a new heat pump eight years ago, the company included one of these in the package. It worked for eight years before becoming stuck on "on. " It would have been nice if it had lasted the same amount of time as my heat pump. br>br>I only needed the switch, but couldn't find one anywhere, so I bought this and simply swapped the switches, and I'm back in business. This kit (March 2018) included a Cleanout Tool, as you can see in the pictures.
It only took 5 minutes to set up. A PVC pipe cutter and wire connectors are all you'll need. As a secondary protection, I wired in a pan safety switch in series. I didn't use any PVC cement, and it fit horizontally into a 3/4" drain line with ease. When it's time to change the filter, I use the cleaner pipe to pour in white vinegar or drain cleaner.
I only discovered this after the fact. The drain became clogged, and water flooded under my laminate floor, which we didn't notice until the floor began to rise. Because it was stuck in the on position, this safety switch failed. The switch was reactivated by removing the clip and floater and hitting it several times. It's a good idea to check the switch's functionality from time to time, as you don't want to waste any floor space.
It's also simple to install and wire. If your drain line clogs and the condensate pan overflows, this will protect your home from water damage. It also includes a useful tool for flushing drain lines and keeping them clear. It's simple to set up and should be checked every time you replace your air filter.
I anticipated that installing these would be a pain in the neck. They didn't quite match the ones we already had. In our complex, we have a lot of air conditioning units. Because I couldn't find our originals, I finally installed one of these, which worked better and was much easier to set up.
This item was purchased in conjunction with AquaGuard AG- Amazon has the Rectorseal SS2 perpendicular drain, as well as the 1200 Horizontal Secondary Drain Pan with 24v Safety/Float Switch. The SS1 was installed on the main drain line of the AC evaporator, and I piped it in myself, which was a breeze, along with the other drain pans and float switches. My house is on the second floor and has an attic furnace. However, I had it wired in by someone else because my installation includes zone dampers and "add a wire," so it's not the most user-friendly. br>br>I used the aquaguard AG1200 in my furnace pan to keep my attic space from overflowing. In the secondary drain pan, I placed the ss2. As a result, if any of these overflow, my air conditioner/furnace will be turned off to avoid property damage. I would strongly advise you to use any of these products to protect your property, as they all perform admirably in my case. For that moment you dread, it's well worth the money.
From start to finish, the installation took about 10 minutes. I used a saw to cut a small piece out of the horizontal pvc section of the drain, about 1 1/2" in length. I believe gluing in is optional; I simply inserted one side of pipe into a "T" fitting with the switch on top, then the other side into the opposite side, and wired the two switch wires according to the instructions. However, keep the switch out of the way until the "T" fitting is installed, then replace it.
