Depending on what you do with this tool, it is not always a matter of what you do. You have to do it in a certain way sometimes. You can use this unit in a variety of ways. According to what you are supplying power to and how you did it, the circuit breaker may trip to protect the unit. My experience has been that normal circuit tests do not trip the unit's breaker unless the wires cross or are grounded in some way.

Power Probe by tps is one of the best instruments I've ever used as an auto mechanic. My first Power Probe III was purchased off a tool truck about 15 years ago. I used it almost constantly after that. About 10 years after I first bought the switch, I burned it out, which meant I had to disassemble and solder a new one in. As a result of this, I learned to put the switch on before touching whatever you want to power up, so that the contacts don't arc. Thereafter, it was just wearing out, mainly due to wires breaking internally at the head and on the A long time ago, I made a new plug end out of Right Stuff and heater hose. I am trying to say that having this tool is incredibly useful, handy, and simple. It is indispensible to an auto mechanic. Moreover, I will not be disposing of the old one, I will just keep it in my trunk in case of an emergency.
