Questions & Answers

The light turned green, but a tone did not appear. Is there anything you can think of?

A box or satellite is hooked up to it

The original explorer testers the explorer came with, or the ones that come with this model, will this work?

If you have the original Explorer remotes, then yes, it will work

On the new model, I see that the battery can be replaced. Does the barrel need to be replaced as well?

Despite the lack of a battery, I have the unit and can attest that its construction is remarkably solid and I doubt you will need to replace the barrel. Its steel and steel body are very durable.

Do you have a BNC connector for this cable?

Obviously, the cable will work with any coax cable, but the connector on the end of it is a BNC connector, which twists and locks. A cable like this is specifically made for f type coax like you would find with an antenna or cable TV. If you are concerned about bnc to f adapters, you might be able to find them. Then you might get lucky. This text does not contain any tones. The resistance is used in it. There is a difference in resistance between each color. In the case where I place all 4 colors on different rooms on my house and then go outside and connect the yellow tool to them with the yellow tool I get the correct LED color. In addition, it does not move through splitters or power amplifiers.

This is what you need to know
5/5

For the past 6 years, I worked in the cable industry Having had this tool at my disposal since day one would have been a great benefit. That is the single most useful cable tracing device that I have ever used in my life. The device is easy and convenient to use. It is also built with durability in mind. The only complaint I have is the price The reason why Comcast has stuck with "crack pipe" toners is likely because they have a long history of breaking them. It is a classic example of what you get for what you pay for This has been added to the report. There is no such thing as a free lunch. Toners for crack pipes at a lower cost will eventually fail, they will get stuck on the cracks In the end, they will "blow" if you accidentally connect them to a powered satellite line. You will then spend 4x the amount of time walking up and down stairs with them on their own Using this toner, you will not be toning every line. It has cut my site time in half with just one tool and has cut my site time in half.

The device works well, but it measures only Simple to use and very easy to learn
5/5

Resistance is measured by these devices, and they come with four testers They have different resistances, as do the terminator plugs. When cables are in good working condition, they can be easily traced. This product could display false readings if there is any type of defect in the cable causing variations in resistance. Using this product, I traced the old RG59 cables in an old home most likely 40 years old. It turned out there were some weird splitters in the house that made it difficult to read Before I could get accurate readings, I needed to disconnect all of the splitters from all parts of the house. The path of the cables could then be traced once that was done.

An easy and convenient way to save time and effort
5/5

My DirectTV Genie control box was moved from the upstairs living room to the downstairs family room using this tool. It saved me a great deal of time, effort, and frustration. A previous owner disconnected the cable junction down in the basement and did not label any of the loose coax cables going to various rooms in our whole house when the builder installed the cable TV. There were just a bunch of loose cable ends lying around. With little effort and the help of this tool, I was able to identify the correct cable to the family room. It's one of those specialty tools that I won't need again for a while, but I found it to be worth it to me.

Using the black terminator plug is not recommended
4/5

There are times when this tool gives a black reading when the black terminator plug itself is not connected to any cable ends. As part of the move, I moved into an old house that had a lot of cable running through the crawl space, as well as this house had Comcast, AT&T, and DirecTV at some point. There are so many cables going through the crawl space due to the tv, and direct TV service. Trying to trace all the cables, I found the cables that are going to my rooms, halls, etc. However, I never even connected the black terminator plug T to the 2 unknown cables. (I am not interested in testing this, as I am using cable service). As I understand it, the tools detect something connected to the other ends of the plug and mark it as a black plug (which gives the false reading if you use standard black terminator plugs elsewhere).

Splitters do not work when used with this function
3/5

Description of the product is misleading The location of the remote/cable connection should also be identified. It is the result of purchasing this device that I can trace all the lines from point of entry into the house to their end points where they connect to the TV. In the event that any of these lines are split using common or high-end splitters (even 2, Splitters), this device cannot be used for that purpose. In general, I believe that it will work fine if there are no splitters on the line. However, I wasn't able to find any information on the product description indicating that this is not intended for use on lines with If the manufacturer wanted to include this information on the product descriptions or other labels, it should be included. If this omission is misleading, either I got a defective item or I got a mislabelled product.

The application is very user-friendly and quick! It is the packaging of this tool that is the most challenging aspect of using it
5/5

As for the rest, it couldn't be simpler to operate! A new house just came on the market that was ready to go A cable system is installed on site in multiple rooms as well as It took me a long time to manually map each cable after wasting a lot of time with trial and error. I used the "smart box" to map all of the coax cables in each room to their corresponding outlets. It took me less than ten minutes to complete the process. My attic is now open so I can watch the Ryder Cup this weekend- A Mohu HD antenna has been mounted!.

An outstanding performance
5/5

My life has been made so much easier since I found this little jewel. I have a friend/a relative who built a custom house about 20 years ago. It has approximately 7,000 square feet. Footage in feet In the second floor there is a closet where the cables run. of over 20 cables to each room, multiple splitters and amps, etc. I was able to identify most of the cables within two hours of arriving. It was necessary to reterminate three because they were still open. The power amp had one large line of power, and every location was able to obtain It's the first time he's ever had that. I slapped four of each color at four locations in the rooms. They were labeled, so I moved on to the next one. I recommend this product highly.

I love the product and it saves me a lot of time
5/5

Something like this would have made a great gift Coaxial cable testing and tracing is easy and convenient with this system. By using multiple resistors (4 colors- Coding terminators) is very convenient because you can identify multiple lines at the same time. Very easy to use. It only takes a few steps with the cable and a Despite my love for the attachment of the terminators to the device, I wish it was a little easier to get them into and out of the holder. There is a tendency for it to take more effort than is necessary. There would be no need for a sound as it is already equipped with an indicator for a positive connection, but I knew that going in when I ordered The multiple terminators did the trick, and I'm glad I opted for them over the sound.
