This switch appears to have a significantly shorter lifespan than traditional switches
3/5

Since I bought it 9 years ago, I've had to replace it twice. Where did it all go wrong? Since I have had to replace this light switch, I have not had to replace the other light switches in my house. In case anyone is interested, this is the internals of the mechanical flip-switch, in case anyone is interested!

I guess if you don't mind changing it every 4 or 5 years, it works fine! a switch that no longer works It's used twice a day on average (4 "flips"), according to me. In this case, that would be about 1500 flips each year, or 6000-7000 During the lifetime of a 7500, it flips over about 7500 times. This gives you an idea of how long it will last you based upon your usage. you found this information useful.

Putting up dims
3/5

But bulbs hum as if there was no tomorrow! My brand-new dimmable LED bulbs were causing my old Lutron dimmer to hum, so I bought this to replace it. There was a comment or response to a question indicating that this was not an issue with the The opinion of the author is not the same as mine. It sounds like my bulbs are humming (like a mosquito. the hum gets louder as the brightness goes up. This load is made up of 10 LED 40-V *Brand of bulbs* Phillips LED Dimmable A19 Light Bulb with Warm Glow Effect 450-400 The Lumen, 2200 to 2300 It is 2700 Kelvin, 5 degrees Celsius. Based on Watt Equivalent). Therefore, we are now faced with a question What now? A dimmer which does not provide any advantages over new bulbs is humming like crazy and I have 10 bulbs that hum like mad as well. If I wrap it up and return it, I might still do that since it is a purse waste of money, but as things stand I am out in the cold for more money in parts and bulbs than I would have saved by using only Please let us know if you have any comments about Lutron.

What You Need to Know About A non-functional component was replaced by a functional component The purpose of this is to eliminate buzzing in eight overhead BR30 lights by using an LED Lutron dimmer
5/5

My barn door opener was a snap to install and matched my vintage non-working one exactly On either side of it are LED dimmers. It had a lower-key appearance to it that I liked as well A downward adjustment will be made at the end. I would not blame the switch, because it did not get rid of the buzz. As a happy (or unfortunate) coincidence, my apartment came with around 8 brands of bulbs, so I was able to tell which bulbs had problems and which did Due to the fact I have a proper switch for LEDs, eliminating that possibility is not in the cards. This is what I came to a strange (but It buzzed less if the bulb was less expensive. This refers to the best of the super-wealthy I found the CRI bulbs to be the most buzzy, and the brown-colored were the best A box of bulk big box store brands did not make too much noise. Despite all that, they are all a bit too close to each other. As you point out, the cheap ones are unlikely to last as long, and it may be something about how they are constructed that makes that possible. Different combinations may produce different results, and Lutron has an 'approved' list of bulbs (most of mine were on it), so results may vary depending on which bulb you choose. However, I am very pleased with the switch.

With this slider dimmer you can dim on the fly Presetting brightness is done by turning off the switch
5/5

These are the ones I've been using Therefore, it was my choice to choose this for the dimmer in a remodeled bathroom and as an accent light in a living room that is now dimmable. It is nice to see that these are now specially rated to work with dimmable LEDs. Many dimmable LEDs don't dim all the way to off, as you have probably read or experienced (like me). Particularly if you use them with older dimmer switches, they can cause issues. Lutron's new (to me) dimming range control adjusts the brightness before the switchplate is installed so that you can solve that problem before installation. Located to the left of the housing, it looks like a tiny slider. When you adjust the dimming range slider until the light turns off, if your bulb or bulbs don't go to full off with the main slider set all the way down, then just adjust the main slider until the light turns All is done. Neither flickering nor partial dimming is present any more. My initial impression is that this switch can be used either in solo mode or as part of a dimmer A single switch in a pole installation (the only switch controlling a light) or a dimmer in a three-way installation There are two switches in two different places (two ways). As long as you install it as a single-user You can simply plug in the wire you are not using on the switch pole. It is very clear how to follow the directions.

LED bulbs work great with this dimmer
5/5

When dimmable LEDs are used with this dimmer, it works great. This is the one I installed in our dining room to use with 5 Watt Dimmable E26 LED Bulbs ( and it turns out to work better than I expected. It has been reported by many others that LEDs do not dim as low as incandescent bulbs, but with this combination the bulbs will dim all the way down to just a tiny spark. A range adjustment switch is on the side of the dimmer so you can decide how low the lights will dim when the slider is all the way down, allowing you to make sure the bulbs don't go completely off unless the flip switch under the slider is shut off. It was simple to install, the instructions provided are clearly written, and anyone who has done even a little bit of light switch installation should be able to do it with this switch. As a safety precaution, you should check the type of switch box you currently have installed. If yours are like mines, then all-in-one boxes are best One-gang switches are like this in that the electrical box is part of the switch, therefore when replacing them with one-gang switches you will need an Old Work Electrical Box (in whatever size you have (Single, Double, Triple Due to its function as a dimmer, the switch has a box on the back that sticks out rather far. A regular-sized depth box can be used, but a large one (will improve things if you have multiple runs coming and going from the depth There is one exception though if your shallow boxes are not shallow, you will not be able to install this. The overall quality of this dimmer is excellent, and my wife and I are both very pleased with it. And we know everyone is happy when the wife is.
