Questions & Answers

Is it possible to connect this to a standard 3-wire circuit? Is there a way to change the direction? The 3-way switch will give you the 3-way switch. Is it going to be smart/dimmable if it has a two-way function?

This smart dimmer switch does not have any travelers. One constant hot wire, one switch leg wire, one neutral, and one ground wire are all present. There are three of them. device that is intelligent in some way

Which tp- What kind of smart bulbs should I use with this dimmer switch? Candelabra bulbs are required for my project. ?

In general, smart bulbs and smart light switches should not be used together because they serve similar functions. Consider the following scenario: br>br>To control non-automated lights, smart light switches should be used. To provide convenient, smart automation features to otherwise "featureless" bulbs or fixtures, smart bulbs have been developed. Smart bulbs should be used to add smart automation features to existing fixtures, lamps, and other lighting. Typically, smart bulbs are preferred in lamps or fixtures when the customer wants independent or individual control over each bulb's smart features and automation. When a customer wants to control, dim, or automate a group of bulbs at the same time, a smart light switch is usually the best option. Because smart bulbs and smart light switches each have their own set of smart features, using them in that order would create redundancy and reduce the overall efficacy of their intended designs.

Is it possible to use this as a non-neutral if I don't have a neutral? How about a clever switch?

The smart light switch must be connected to a neutral wire for installation and operation.

Customer service was the worst I've ever encountered
3/5

When it works properly, this product performs admirably. The Kasa app and Alexa integration were simple to set up. br>br>Short version of the story: Customer service is at an all-time low. br>br>Here's a longer version of the story: br>br>So, why only one star? br>br>I think this is the worst customer service experience I've ever had. One of the four switches we bought began to fail within a month. It doesn't dim properly or work with Alexa (aka, the wife is livid that her husband bought four switches and one of them is broken). So, there's a two-year warranty on the product, which is fantastic! That was my initial impression. After a five-hour conversation with customer service, I was told I needed to register my product, which should have taken five minutes to say, "Please register, we don't see the SN. " br>br>After a long online chat, they were able to figure out why the serial numbers weren't showing up in their system. I was able to register them on my side after they finally manually entered them from their end, which took two hours. br>br>Now things start to get better. Someone on chat is ready to process the return and says, "Just take it off the wall and send it to us, and we'll send you a new one. " What? Do you want me to remove it and email it to you? Yes, simply take it out, pay the shipping, and we'll send you a new one once we receive it. They wanted me to pay for shipping, leave the lights turned off, or purchase a new light switch while I waited for the faulty one to be returned. br>br>After explaining that my lights won't work without a switch and that there are live wires exposed (which I would cover), I was told to simply turn off the breaker. Yes, I was instructed to kill a circuit breaker and turn it off. br>br>I was reminded of David Spade from TommY Boy. br>br>After that, I'm told they can send me one with a $25 hold. If I want my lights to work, it makes sense for them to send me a switch for a hold fee, then remove the hold and refund once the faulty switch is received. I thought to myself, "Perfect, that makes sense. " Agent: This is going to cost $14. Is it really 99 dollars for standard delivery? br>br>Wait, my switch is only 30 days old and still covered by the manufacturer's two-year warranty. Because you sold me a defective switch, you want me to pay $15 to have a new switch shipped to me? br>br>Long story short, I spent another hour and a half with a supervisor trying to get them to pay for shipping. Worst customer service I've ever experienced!.

The HS220 model switch does not have an "away mode" feature! Because of the positive reviews and the random "away mode" feature, I decided to purchase this three-pack
3/5

However, the HS220 model does not have that feature, and I learned from the Kasa community board that it is not planned to be added. This is a deal breaker for me because it was one of the main reasons I purchased these switches in the first place. I'm going to look into other brands. br>br>For someone with some electrical experience, the product installation was simple and straightforward. The app was also simple to install and set up. The connection to Google Home went without a hitch. I'm going to do it again. I'd like to emphasize that, despite the fact that the ad stated that it supported away mode, it did not. Despite this, I did conduct some app testing. I set up a sunset schedule, which worked perfectly. During my limited testing, I found their app to be simple to use and reliable. br>br>Amazon should contact this vendor and request that they remove the "away mode" from this model switch from their product description. I'm disappointed that I had to learn this after taking the time to remove an old switch and replace it with this one. Fortunately, I only had one of the three installed when I made this discovery. br>br>If you don't want or need the "away mode" feature, this appears to be a good option.

For this price range, these are most likely the best smart switches
5/5

I can't say enough about how pleased I am with the Kasa switch line of products; I recently converted my entire home to smart lighting, and I've used smart light bulbs, Kasa switches, and other brand smart switches. UNFORTUNATELY, Kasa does not produce 3-D models. I couldn't find Kasa TP-D dimmable switches, so I had to buy another brand, but I wish they were all Kasa TP-D dimmable switches. Link. Advantages: br>br>
- Kasa is a fantastic app to use. I've had no problems with connectivity, and I have 7 Kasa switches (dimmers and simple switches) installed.
- br>- Works well with Alexabr> Does a better job of dimming my LED lights than the other brand. The app can be used to calibrate the dimmer.
- It has the appearance and feel of a high-end product. br>br>Consbr>- Kasa does not produce a 3-in-1 product. a dimmer switch that can be dimmed in three different ways
- It's not compatible with Apple Home Kit, which could be a deal breaker. For some, this could be a deal breaker. I'm not sure why this decision was made, and I considered taking a star off because of it, but I don't use Apple Home Kit, so it gets 5 stars from me.

I have about 12-years of experience with this product, but the customer service is terrible
3/5

In my house, I now have 15 KASA devices. A few light bulbs, a few wall plugs, and a few dimmer and regular wall switches. br>My most recent purchase consisted of six switches: three dimmer switches and three regular switches. br>With the exception of one of the dimmer switches, everything went smoothly. br>In an effort to get this resolved quickly, I called in and started an online chat. I figured I'd do both and see who answered first. br>I never got through to a live person on the phone, and the online chat took over an hour to complete. br>Because the operator was vague, I was instructed to close the chat and wait for an email. ok. br>It's been several hours. NO EMAIL HAS BEEN RECEIVED AS OF YET. I'm pretty sure this means I'll be on the phone/chat for a few more hours. br>br>However, the products are great, and I'd like to use them to finish off my house. However, given the poor customer service, I am now skeptical.
