I now have all three outlets from the first set of outlets on the remote's #1 button so I can turn on all the lights simultaneously. To turn on a fan, I have moved an outlet from the second set to that first remote's #3 button. There can be multiple outlets on one switch, multiple switches on one outlet, or different parts from as many sets as you want. This has been independently confirmed by me. It took about ten seconds for each outlet to complete all of those steps. Likewise, the mounting plate is detachable from the switch (which you attach with command strips rather than screws or permanent adhesive - they were included to avoid damaging the wall), so you can pick it up and carry it around as a remote control if you prefer.
