I experimented with each and every one of them
5/5

TPLink is now the de facto standard. I've tried a half-dozen different brands of these types of devices, including in-home models. switches mounted on the walls It's past time to standardize to make things easier to manage, so I went with TPLink. The Alexa integration works well in the app, and the devices respond quickly. All of the other brands I've tried are up for grabs- All I want now is one app with everything working properly. It's uncommon for a connection to be lost, but if it happens, it's important to know what to do. They appear to be quickly returning to service. I've even decided to go with the entire TPLink ecosystem of cameras and in-home networking equipment. dimmer switches on the walls If you're not sure which brand to choose, I've been involved with home automation since we had to write our own X10 protocol scripts. I haven't tried everything there is to try. TPLink is a low-cost consumer product that delivers excellent results. In my case, I even used a spare older router to connect to the 38 automation devices separately from the regular internet devices using a spare older router. I'm very pleased with the quality of the work and the cost.

It was a great plug, but it had outlived its usefulness
5/5

This smart plug does an excellent job of fulfilling its purpose. It's just that I wish it could do more (e. g. , play music). similar to its "big brother," the Kasa 6 plug power strip, which keeps track of each plug's electrical usage). br>br>It was originally purchased to turn on and off a difficult-to-reach lamp, but it became redundant after I received only one Philip smart bulb. Actually, after the first smart bulb, I realized I needed a smart dimmable bulb for every lamp and light fixture. All lamps are now using Philip smart dimmable bulbs, while I have yet to convert 100% of the fixtures. An on/off switch is far inferior to the bulbs. br>br>I'm still looking for another use for the plug. My "big computer," three monitors, and external devices (e. g. , printers) are all being tracked by the power strip. drives, video capture devices, hubs, and so on). Unlike the strip, this plug has only on/off capabilities. br>br>With these smart devices, we hope to track and/or reduce our electricity consumption. Apart from the lights and the computer, there isn't much in our house that requires remote control. It's not the plug's fault; it simply has limitations. br>br>If you need a smart plug, this one or the Amazon smart plug should be on your list. Of course, you should think about getting a plug that can track your electrical requirements. There's also the strip. br>br>5 stars, because it isn't my fault that I haven't been able to find it a new job.

Stupidity at its finest
3/5

One TP-bag was all I had. I thought I'd get another link plug because this one worked well and had no major issues. With this one, however, that was no longer the case. I've been attempting to get it to work for the past two hours - 45 minutes of live chat support with TP- People, here's a link - prior to quitting Worst of all, I threw out the package when it arrived, so I won't be able to return it. Purchase any other smart plug to save your sanity. br>br>It's also worth noting that I believe the product has been used and returned previously. It kept giving me the error "already bound," which according to a quick google search means it's already been registered and needs to be reset by TP-Link. Link. Support was having none of it and walked me through everything I'd already done (make sure you put in the correct wifi password, disconnect and forget your wifi network and re-input your password to make sure it's correct, make sure you reset the device, reset the router, etc. ). Additionally, there are extremely long wait times for responses from customer service chat - combined with the length of time it takes for the product to attempt to register - You'll go insane as a result of it.

TP- is difficult to beat
5/5

Link. Keep in mind that these cube plugs have a lower rating than the larger ones, so keep that in mind as you consider your options. This is ideal for a variety of uses. These are what I use to turn off a power strip that has a lot of vampire plugs. It has a timer and scheduler, as well as a fantastic iPhone app that is frequently updated. I wouldn't recommend buying generic plugs because each brand has its own set of requirements, which can be confusing. During installation, I discovered a firmware update, but it was as reliable as usual. I've been using TP Link for years to control difficult-to-reach parts of my house (I use one on a balky smart fridge so I don't have to go out to the breaker panel when it crashes)br>br>perfect with alexa, give it a try, you won't know how you lived without it. On my iPhone, it also works well when I'm not connected to the internet.

I have about 40 of their switches, which is an excellent product
5/5

I've tried several brands, and this one has proven to be the most reliable. I've tried a lot of different auto switch brands because I have a lot of remote properties that I need to monitor and reset. WeMo, Blackloud, Amazon switches, and a few other brands I've tried have all given me problems. Apps that weren't up to par caused problems. due to issues with devices losing their wifi connections etc. . Which is a disaster if you're far away from home and can't unplug it to reset it. I've only had this issue with Kasa on maybe 2 out of 40 devices, and they had to be reset. My failure rates with the other brands were as high as 50%. After that, some other brands couldn't locate the device a second time, and so on. Kasa appears to be very stable, with no surprises and constant functionality. Everything is displayed in the app. So that was the end of my multi-year test and waste of money. I got rid of all of my previous bad choices and now only use Kasa. Automation is something I really enjoy doing. I even have these on-board car float chargers that I set to run for 3 hours twice a week. Everything is in working order. I simply stock up on these when they go on sale. In addition, my house has Alexa echos. I simply say use commands to turn on and off when going to bed because I have all of these connected. For the majority of items, you can also use the auto scheduler. That's pretty cool.

It was aggravating and I had to return
3/5

I tried for 2 hours and failed to set up this plug. The website to which you've been directed for help is useless. I looked on the internet and found a lot of people who were having the same issue with no real solutions. I have Amazon and Wemo smart plugs that took less than five minutes to set up. Save time by switching to a different manufacturer. I replaced this plug with a vintage timer and am very pleased with the results.
