ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I just realized that these aren't tamper-proof, and thus aren't compliant with NEC code for replacements in most residential applications. Tamper-resistant receptacles prevent children from inserting anything other than a plug into the outlet (one that engages both the hot and neutral slots at the same time). The Leviton T5320 is a device that allows you to control the temperature of your home. The letter W is less expensive ( 50), as well as being tamper-proof. br>br>I also bought a precision screwdriver that was small enough to fit in the push-button release. I've tried everything I can think of to get the wire to release from the fittings, but it won't. Meanwhile, one of the other push-button switches in the same receptacle failed to secure another 14G wire. Without pressing the release, they could be yanked out of fittings. I'm not sure if this is due to poor quality control or a general product flaw. br>br>I'm downgrading my rating from four to two stars. ORIGINAL REVIEW: BR>BR>ORIGINAL REVIEW: BR>BR>ORIGINAL REVIEW: BR>ORIGINAL REVIEW With push-button installation, it's simple to put together a solid piece of furniture. when it comes to fixtures If you have separate circuits (for a wall switch), it takes a little wiggling to snap the bridge. The only gripe I have is that the pressure fitting release slots are TINY - I'm not sure if I have a small enough screwdriver! The print on the housing is so small that it was impossible for even my child with perfect vision to read it. I had to use a magnifying glass to see what I was looking at. It's worth noting that the screws come with cheap plastic retainers instead of the metal ones that most receptacles have.
BRASS On the piece I got, all of the terminal screws were brass. The same can be said for the pieces that make up the background. Silver screws and backing plates are not included. br>br>I could have bought any other $3 receptacle in the world and gotten a better product; the item should not be UL listed, marketed by GE, or sold by Amazon. FAILURE. br>br> FAIL. FAIL.
I purchased a large quantity of these because I am replacing all of our outlets and switch plates with rectangular versions. These have two screws on each side for your wires, as well as holes in the back for wires (2 on each side) and a small screw to attach your grounding wire, and I had little trouble using them to replace the circle-shaped connectors. Except for a couple of outlets with wires that were slightly thicker than others, I had face outlets throughout my house. To get those into the back holes, I had to do a lot of finagling.
To begin with, GE was the only brand I could find with no obnoxious writing/branding on the face of their square outlet. In terms of the outlet as a whole; They get 5 stars from me.
. Packaging, on the other hand, is important. Zero. After waiting a month for them to arrive, they make an unfortunate return. For comparison, I included a photo of the packaging and the outlets on a new faceplate. The scratches are more visible in person than on camera, but it was pre-owned. To say the least, it's worn and battle torn.
Despite the fact that the Amazon product description claims that this receptacle can handle 15 amps, the back packaging states that it can handle up to 20 amps. It's well built, with two metal screws holding the body together from the backside, according to the packaging. br>.
These aren't bad receptacles, but they lack a back wire feature for clamping the wire under the screw from the inside. These will work if you don't mind bending the loop and going under the screw head.
I bought two to replace the old ones that weren't holding the sockets tightly enough. Although the device appears to be sturdy, it lacks a simple conductor clip. in the holes for connections The screws came in handy at that point. The reviewer requests that we provide its weatherproof rating, but I'm not sure how applicable that rating is to an indoor duplex outlet. It's all good!.
