Dies cast aluminum, which is what these are. This spring door is sturdy and safe to close - it doesn't need gorilla strength to open, but will securely close. The product is listed with UL. The gasket for flush mounting, however, is the wrong type. There are no cutouts for a duplex outlet in the foam gasket cutouts. They are for the back of an electrical box without a supply line. The rubber sheet could be cut to fit an outlet, but I opted to make my own out of a 1/16" piece of butyl rubber. You can see photos here.
A good feature of the Sealproof Horizontal Weatherproof Outlet Cover is the fact that it is It is made and is There is a spring-loaded cover on the dual outlets To keep them weather-tight, they are filled with foam inserts. I like the way the finished project looks on my wall, but there are a few drawbacks 1.
I didn't like the odd cut of the gasket that goes inside the plate and ended up not being very effective at sealing the plate from the weather. The mat would have been better with a cut out if it had been made of rubber. .
3. Mounting has to be done with a longer screw than included. Though I dug out a longer replacement screw, I find it frustrating to see such sloppy work. 1. 2. 3. Attaching the power outlet cover was particularly frustrating due to the springs in the outlet covers, which are quite robust. As you are applying the cover you have to fight them the whole time. The fact of the matter is, anybody with a bit of know-how could effectively do this The plan is to work through the issues and create an amazing rooftop Nevertheless, it is regrettable that its manufacturer wasn't as meticulous as it should have been. 4. 0 out of 5.
As a result of ordering this, I found out that this plate is made of metal and I was very happy with it. In other words, we now have a metal door instead of the original plastic one we had that had not surprisingly cracked and snapped after 20 years in the
I appreciate that this is built to last. It came with weatherproofing insulation, which we did not use since the old insulation seems fine, so we will just hold onto the foam. In case your old plate is not held in place by the center screw, installation should be straightforward. After noticing we could not tighten it (perhaps the center hole of our screw is partially stripped, so be sure to check yours) - we didn't replace it with the new screw and tried again. We found the plate to be snug, so I think it will be okay.
Other than that, if we need to replace the one on the front of the house (not in direct sun, so probably not), we'll certainly get another!.
I currently have my house on the market, and we are working hard to keep it in top condition. During the cleaning operation of my back patio, I accidentally tore off two of my 12 year old GFI outlet covers. The replacement I needed was a quality one, so I searched the Web for a replacement There were some contradictory reviews on these outlets when I looked on-line. I would like to be clear that these are not plastic, and they are high quality. They were delivered to me in less than 48 hours through Amazon, and they were very easy to set up. A longer screw for attaching to outlets would be the only thing that would be useful for manufacturers to include Using my existing screws, I did not have to buy new ones.
A corner of the backing gasket was crushed during delivery. I had to press the gasket out carefully with a heavy book over the course of the night. There is almost no difference between the sizes of outlet plate and gasket. The backing plate had to fit within the gasket during mounting, so care had to be taken during assembly. An indoor smear of silicone worked well for me An outdoor sealant is used to seal the ball and gasket. I thought it was a good value for about $6, but the installation required some attention.
Our planters are tripped over by two outlets that are inexplicably located in the floor. Others assure me that water or dirt flowing into outlets won't cause any problems, but I am not so sure. I also don't care if there is water or dirt spilling into me. As a result, I searched for a child-safe cover, but all that's affordable is one with a zip closure A combination of plugs and covers that prevent small children from climbing in and getting into A new outlet cover turned out to be exactly what I was looking for, and I am delighted with it. The installation was easy (except for trying to keep the spring intact It opens quickly and allows one to put in a screw) into the loaded cover. This has been a very satisfying experience for me.
I was dissatisfied with this product overall. No matter how I positioned the foam seal, there was no way that was going to keep this dry. As if it were warped or twisted, the cover itself appears to have warped. The product, however, is not of good quality.
The quality of the product is superb. If you are replacing an old cover, you should use the same screw you used to mount the old one. There is already a thread for it. This is an easy installation. The only problem is that the actual plug covers do not stay in place as soon as they are raised. It would be more user-friendly and beneficial if that were the case.
