To open it, you'd need to use a flat head screwdriver or a small key. It is possible to drill a hole through the cover and install a handle or knob if you are concerned you would not be able to open it quickly. There isn't enough tension in the door to keep it shut, so anything that can pull it just a bit will lift it.

I am very happy with how it worked out. Easily fits into a 14 inch shoe. There is a square hole in the middle of the block. Almost invisible when closed because it is very flush with the ceiling. It will take something thin, such as a putty knife, to open. My only concern is that the tabs may wear out over time, but I will only open it twice a year to access an outside hose bib shutoff valve.
Everything that I needed was in the Access Panel. The product is paintable and is a nice little product that will solve my aceess problem without making a nasty hole that would not look right otherwise.
An expert was called to fix a plumbing problem that left a hole 15X9. My husband and I were able to notch out the corners above and below in order to slide this panel in easily and securely. There was enough room to accommodate the extra space in the frame.
(The only other way takes an hour and involves removing the shell of the All I need to do now is to pull the washer forward a foot, and then use a butter knife to open the door! As a landlord with a duplex where there are many holes in the walls pertaining to plumbing shut offs, I will be buying more of these brand to make the aesthetics of my duplex better.
It is easy to install and well made. It was easy to follow the directions. This is a great deal.
The product was purchased to cover an electrical junction box that was located in a hole in a bedroom wall. I like the look of it on the wall and it seems sturdy enough. There is a peculiar safety mechanism on the door that if you open it normally, the door flexes and will fall out of the I did not even install the software before this happened. The only way to prevent that from happening is by opening it slightly and tugging on it. There's a possibility that mine is defective or that it's an engineering "feature. " It would be too much of a hassle to return, especially if this is normal for the panel. A NEW UPDATE Before and after installation, I was able to use the other panel that the sellers sent me. The review was changed to a 5 star!.
A hole in the wall in our basement was needed for access to some water pipes, so this fix was ideal. My hole in the drywall was about 11 3/4 inches square, and I added silicone to the inside of the frame in order to help it stay It is convenient to have the panel on a hinge.
I'm glad I found what I was looking for. The access point from behind the tub was to be located on the wall of a bedroom closet, which was low. This is an easy to install product. Using a stud finder, we calculated the space between wall studs to be 14". You don't want a stud directly in the middle of your access area, Do you or do you not? It works either way. I mapped the area I wanted to cut from drywall with square edges with a 2' level. A drywall saw will allow you to cut out the drywall. I vacuumed up dust, caulked the edges against the drywall with thin caulk, and then painted the walls. My wife and I liked the fit and it was childproof. You have to use a screwdriver type device to unlatch the door.
