The cost at Home Depot is 22 each. Despite being good, this purchase is a bad one! Two original construction boxes had to be torn away. I used these to replace those items. These mounting ears worked perfectly, but a slightly higher mounting height was necessary to achieve their best performance. hadn't looked the way they did in the picture If I had returned them, I would have done so. Despite the savings if I had purchased them at Home Depot, I chose to buy these from Amazon because it was much easier than going During the Pandemic, I was disabled, so I did not want to ask someone else to shop for me.
It is the same one that home depots, lowe's, and menards sell. Among others. They would normally sell for a third of the price. But, if you would like to upgrade your electrical and can't find a box within a 50 mile radius, you are forced to buy at an usurious markup because the only other option is to not complete your project. There's something wrong with this timeline. Though boxes are fine, they are not essential.
There is a difference in price between these and those at As well as that, they are hollow. While not too shallow, this can be a problem when installing smart switches. With larger gauge wires like 10 gauge, in particular. Maybe easy for the pros, but not so easy for people like me who like DIY. The ones at Home Depot are deeper and cheaper, lol, but you might have trouble It has the perfect depth for electrical outlets, coax, ethernet cable, a phone line, and I think the smart switch functionality is a little shallow. There's no reason it can't be done. Simply more difficult to get all the wires to press back enough to allow the switch to be installed correctly. I would probably never buy these if I had access to the deeper, cheaper ones at Home Depot, but alas, that is not the case. I cannot agree with that statement. However, this is a good product. You may need to pre-screw the screws a few times to loosen them up, as other reviews state. It takes a bit of work to cut through the threads in the plastic ears before they are The nature of this old type of workbox is to have this kind of construction. I have never stripped a screw out this way this is the way they are. This is not a flaw, it is just the way they are. Also, if you are using Phillips screws, you should surely be using an electric impact, not a hand held screwdriver.
The used to be easy to find at any big box home improvement store, but these days they are now as scarce as hen's teeth around here. In my experience, I've used this product many times and it accomplishes what it's supposed to. Those new to it may want to loosen the clamps up first by operating the screws that draw them in. Though it is obvious how to use them, the screws should be operated to loosen them When loosening the clamps after installation, there is a risk of the screws falling out behind the wall if the screws are back out too far.
Using a direct screw installation into wood is possible, even if you have to remove the screw and wing.
Four of these outlets were purchased, and I used them to run an additional outlet on the wall for two TVs in my home. I liked it a lot. This is a quick and easy process. There was a little repair work to be done around the existing outlet, but it was just that the sawzall was extremely hard to control.
It was of a high quality for an excellent price. The best thing to do is to avoid going to Home Depot during a Coronavirus.
The tabs on a work box in our island broke off and wouldn't stay in the wall, so we replaced it with this one. Fit like a glove and was easy to replace and insert. As a regular guy like me, I was very pleased with how easy it was to do this.
