priced. This was purchased in order to make the installation of the HEPD80 whole house surge protector look more professional. br>The HEPD58MKF is a HEPD58MKF with a HEPD58MKF with a HEPD58 The cost is $47. It's just a bezel and a few pieces of hardware at 68. The HEPD80 does everything and costs only $89. br>At the very least, I won't have to buy another HEPD58MKF when the HEPD80 wears out and needs to be replaced. (Assuming, of course, that civilization hasn't gone to hell in a handbasket. ).
It's a perfect match for the new Square D HEPD80 model. It would have been better if it had been less expensive.
I believe it was for an older model SPD80, so it would not have worked.
It's a nice unit, but it could use some better mounting because the bottom doesn't stay flush.
This is required for a professional installation of high quality.
Except for the depth of the flex conduit fitting mount on the back of the plate, this is a nice mounting kit. Because the fitting is wide enough, it hits the back of the drywall when installed, preventing the SurgeArrest from sitting flush in the plate. To get the unit to sit flush in the bracket, I had to carve out some of the drywall behind the opening. Aside from that, it was simple to set up, and they provided everything you'll need. Much nicer looking than other mount kits for Surge systems from other vendors, and the instructions are very clear. complete. One thing to keep in mind that I forgot to mention is that if you put the flex pipe on the fittings and then want to remove one to shorten it, it is extremely difficult to do so. Before attaching both fittings to the tube, cut it to the desired length.
If you're installing the HEPD 80 outside of your panel on an interior wall, you'll need this kit. To be honest, this is something that should be included with the surge protector because the majority of people will most likely do it. The kit is a little pricey for what it is, but it gives the finished product a nice look.
