Questions & Answers

Is the box and lid included in this price?

The box does come with a lid.

The studs in the wall where I want to hang this are 11 inches apart. What if I put this up vertically? I'd like to connect it to electricity as well. ?

It wouldn't be a good match. Because the cabinet is 10 inches tall, turning it sideways would leave you with a 1/2-inch gap on each side, and all of the knockouts, including the AC knockout for power, would be hidden by the studs. I'd look into other possibilities.

What is the size of the knockouts?

4 x 2 On top, 1/2 inch knockouts, two (2) 2-inch knockouts 1/2-inch knockouts on the top and bottom, plus an AC knockout.

Is the box and lid included in this price?

When I bought it, it did.

The concept is excellent, but the execution is lacking
3/5

I've used the version with the fixed lid and found it to be very useful. This could have been ideal, but there are three flaws: the first is unforgivable - The screws that come with the kit are too big for the hinge holes. It also attaches the lid to the weak flange rather than the stronger corners. To make it work, I had to get some screws on my own and then open up the holes in the lid to allow it to reach the other side and engage the lock. Second, the punch outs aren't very well cut out, so I ended up deforming the frame in the process of removing them. Finally, the lid hinge sticks out rather than being inside the box, causing the lid to not sit flush with the wall on the hinge side, which appears sloppy but could be easily fixed with some appropriate engineering design and minor stamping die maintenance. There's a lot of potential here, but it's not being realized. You will not be sorry for your purchase.

Made well and easy to install, this simple steel box houses an internet switch and cleans up cable runs
5/5

Choose one to screw into and make your drywall cuts after finding the stud and confirming the space between studs. I added an internet cable, an extra electrical outlet, and a surge protector to the box. This allows me to hide my internet cables and switch behind a clean half-wall door, while powering the switch and any other items. The price is reasonable, and the product is of high quality.

With one exception, it's fantastic
4/5

Great value box, but I can't find an electrical outlet box that will fit in the punchout, which is wider than any box I can find and will leave a gap on both sides.

I'd give it five stars if the screws that came taped to the lid didn't fit the frame they were supposed to go into
