The crankcase heater for a compressor outside in the cold sounds like a pretty simple thing. I just use any old magnetic stick on heater. An engine made of them wouldn't do anything for a compressor, but they would for a car engine. . * OR . Here's a link to some Powermate Synthetic compressor oil

Unlike a single phase circuit, this one is a three phase circuit. If your motor is a single phase motor, it can be run using only two poles of the contactor.

The prices are competitive. It was a simple process to install. This worked well for me. It was a little pricey, but it was worth it. We came up with the best offer by a long shot. Only one drawback is that the box cannot be used outside since it's not weather proofed, so I had to purchase and install a weather proof enclosure at the Home Depot for an additional $25. This required drilling holes for electrical conduits and wires, which added to the total cost.

There is some confusion for the home user when it comes to wiring, but it's not a catastrophe

As soon as I figured out how the wires were connected, drilled a hole, and added the low amp on / off switch I felt more confident in using my air compressor when needed. "CLICK" sounds nice and solid when you put pressure on it. A long-term relationship like this will make sense to me.

This switch is excellent in its own right. The jumpers I needed to install it didn't come with it, unlike a previous one. Furthermore, the schematics do not have any diagrams to label the terminals. It was necessary to consult YouTube to make sure it was properly wired. Although, once it has been installed, it works just fine.

Yes, the item is made in China, but it is square D spec. Heaters are inexpensive failsafes, as opposed to burned up, non-replaceable electronic controls found on most other brands of heating systems. In conjunction with a 5HP air compressor, it is used to control the compressor pressure.
