Questions & Answers

What is the procedure for continuous starts and stops (intermittent use) on this motor?

This works well for me. In the winter, mine is a furnace blower motor which starts and stops constantly.

It appears that these motors are electrically wired to be plugged into an outlet via an extension cord. Is that possible?

Yes, of course. Just a cord with a three-prong plug on one end is all you need. Once you have the three wires on the other end attached to the motor, you can connect them to it.

Are there any sources where the motor's replacement parts can be obtained? It is the cover plate for the terminal board I am searching for. ?

For a reliable source of the part you need, I would search Google for "AOSmith motor repair parts." Ideally, you should also contact a local electric motor repair shop to find if they can help you. It may be common to many brands and models to have a terminal board cover plate.

Do you know whether this motor can be What if I need it the other way around?

Can you be sure it is clockwise? I got one that You can check the rotation direction by rotating the motor with its shaft away from you. The wires within the terminals (not the ones you attach) of most motors can be reversed to operate in either direction.

Little motor with a big heart
3/5

As part of my job, I make and design industrial equipment. My distributor even tried to purchase these direct from the manufacturer, but their delivery from China would take 8 weeks. The Amazon online store came to my rescue and I bought three. The motors are cheap as far as they are concerned. The majority of our business is with (much larger) Baldor and Nidec, but we used these per request of one of our customers. In quality, there is a very noticeable drop. We got the first one out of the box that was bad, the bearings were awfully We were given full credit by the OEM, who field scraped it and gave us a full refund. Get a motor that has standard, replaceable bearings and spend a bit more money to get a better motor. In the event that something goes wrong, this is pretty much a throw-away. In terms of dual frame sizes, this comes with an EW58 sleeve that can jump the shaft dia up to the Nema 56, and a key slot for accessing the shaft. Having a 48 is fine it's just a flat. I used a L-shaped backplate to complete my ensemble They are connected to a ROPER SIZE OF 050 X 1/2 NO KEYWAY HUB and seem to be doing a good job thus far, but how long they will last is unknown.

This is a great motor
4/5

In buying this particular motor, I purchased a similar one to replace the one that failed. Compared to the old one, the new one had slightly less horsepower 1/4, as opposed to It was close to being exact when I said close. After removing the original power cord, I discovered that the wiring was the same. A perfect alignment of the holes was achieved on the base. It took all of 15 minutes to replace it. There is relatively little noise from the motor. The original was a lot quieter than this one. Thanks for the purchase. I am very happy with it. A perfect score would be great, but why not? You're funny to ask that, isn't it. They were so tight that they were impossible to remove! The screws that held the plate in place (the plate that covered the wiring) were fastened in so tightly that they could not be removed! Screwdriver with a flat head. The date is Put them on. This small pipe wrench is for fitting small pipes. Nothing could get them out of their rut! The plate was eventually broken off by just breaking it. I would definitely recommend this motor other than that little snafu.

You can reverse the rotation of the motor
5/5

In addition to replacing the 35-watt motor, I've also replaced a 25-watt motor The boat hoist motor has been used for 10 years. I am really happy with how quiet the house As there was no information on how to wire a forward/reverse switch to this motor, I had to come up with my own wiring diagram. I did not include the hole sizes for the mounting brackets. This motor is very dependable and offers great value for money. I am very pleased to have found it.

This motor performed well for the price

I ran the motor for an hour on my work bench before installing it in a 4' vent fan. This machine runs rather hot at first, particularly on the bearing away from the drive side. After several lubrications I noticed things gradually cooled down and I can easily turn the shaft by hand after several hours. It has been in service several days now and is working efficiently.

This is the second time in a row we've had a bum motor
3/5

I gave Amazon 5 stars for taking care of my two returns of this product. I paid no shipping costs and it was very easy. shaft on the first motor was very stiff, and I was advised to return it to a repair shop that works on these motors. A new one has been ordered. A complete freeze of the shaft of the second motor occurred. Even though I am not sure whether this is a good motor or not, I can tell you that I don't think ordering it over the mail is worth the trouble If it does not arrive in working order, there is a high likelihood of it not working. Furthermore, I expected to be able to connect a cord to it myself since other reviews stated that it could be done. Although I was not eligible when it was presented to me, I knew that I would not be eligible. It was hard for me to connect any of the wires to the access panel, and I did not feel confident about how what I saw was working. It is best not to assume you will be able to attach a cord until you have some experience working.

Not as quiet as it should be
3/5

Installed a new blower motor on a furnace that no longer started Ratings on HP are the same. I replaced the motor straight forward, however it is a lot louder than the old one. As far as I can tell, it functions fine otherwise.

This is a standard high quality motor at a very reasonable price
5/5

This is the type of motor that I use in repairing photo booth transmissions. The price at Amazon attracted me to the product. It appears to be of high quality and the price is very good. In the near future, I expect to buy again. Two wires in the motor can be switched to reverse its rotation without any difficulty. The label shows a clear diagram of how it works.
