Under Eaton's name, this breaker is made by Cutler Hammer and will not fit into a typical Cutler Hammer panel. It will only fit in straight-edged panels, however.
This would be the case if the C type breakers were involved. In this case, it is unlikely to be the R or Q types (Zinsco).
You might want to try moving the handle to the complete off position before moving it back to on. I would say the breaker is defective if this does not work.
I would say that if the breaker is not defective then it will work. Push the handle in a direction in which the breaker is off, so that it is in the off position. By doing this, you will reset the spring mechanism inside the valve, which you should hear and feel. During the summer, my transformer burned out some of my breakers and pretty much destroyed half of my main electrical system. However, the wall breaker box of this old place has a Westinghouse brand, but I found that it would still work, and I was right. Thankfully, the installers were able to get it up and running, and everything is now working like it should. In the event that the electric company replaces the old transformer in this power-house, I would be very happy You can stop the craziness by dunking town.
The circuit breaker is to replace an existing one that is broken. is such a wide variety of types and subtle differences that I was advised to make sure the type and manufacturer (stamped on the body) are the same. This one still resembles the original failed one pictured above, despite being over forty years old.
These are far better quality than the ones you can buy at local Home Depots and Lowes. My local Home Depot and Lowes had items on display or rack that were almost all out of stock, and so I purchased them online (there is a good chance that bad employees at Home Depot and Lowes just returned those items to the display or rack).

The click-off has been completed. It had been clicked off and I could not get it I found it to be a bad idea. I discovered that as soon as the power was turned off, the system Having to push really hard to get off and then to get back on afterward. It works the same as any other 30 amp Eaton (I can easily use it as an off-and-on A 100amp switch is painful to use as a switch, must reset each time. Wish I'd bought a GE or other panel box instead.
I replaced this main breaker because the old breaker of a different brand finally gave out after 40 years. It was a perfect fit with no problem installing this new breaker. Despite its appearance, this breaker never broke. This seems to be working. There was a problem with the old one. With this one, I don't see any issues.
