So, these sensors aren't very good. Don't get me wrong: if you already have an Apple TV in your house within 15 feet of where you want to put ALL of these sensors, you're golden. Otherwise, you're going to have a bad time. br>Essentially, these sensors must be connected to a Homekit hub in order to be useful. This could be a stationary Apple TV, HomePod, or dedicated iPad. The sensors must be within Bluetooth range of the Homekit hub in order to communicate with it. Now, if you want to be certain of their reliability, you must find them within a 15-minute drive. I'm about 20 feet away from the Homekit hub. To summarize, these may work for some people, but they didn't work for me, and I believe many others will be disappointed. To be fair, they basically say this in the description, but I'm going to spell it out for you so you know exactly what you're getting. My house has three Apple TVs, and none of them could pick up the signal from any of my doors. br>br>DISCLAIMER: This is a work in progress. VocoLinc offered to reimburse me for several of their products in exchange for a positive review; however, after realizing that I didn't want to keep any of them (you get what you pay for), I decided to simply return them and give you my completely honest opinion. And that's just one way stores defraud their review system.

Around 40 Apple HomeKit devices are in my possession. And I have to say, the vast majority of them are VOCOlinc, which aren't overly expensive, simple to set up, and simply work. br>br>I bought these contact sensors because I often wonder if I closed certain doors or not while trying to fall asleep in bed. The ability to determine whether the doors are open or closed has been extremely useful. br>br> I also enjoy being able to set up automations in my home using these sensors. 'Turn off the air conditioner if the back door is open,' for example. 'Send me an alert if a door is opened while I'm not at home,' for example!.

First and foremost, these devices are fantastic! I'm usually wary of bluetooth HomeKit devices, but these are fantastic. br>I recently moved, and in our previous home, we had built-in switches in our master closets that turned on and off the closet light, which we really missed, so I used these sensors in conjunction with a Lutron dimmer. The end result is fantastic! Granted, there's an Apple TV on the other side of a wall about 8 feet away, so the bluetooth signal doesn't have to travel very far, but they've been working flawlessly. There's about a one-to-one ratio. When opening or closing the door, there is usually a 3 second delay, but this is to be expected. br>br>The only criticism I have of these devices is the placement of the battery. Because these sensors are so small, the battery compartment is on the back, which doesn't seem so bad until you're trying to install them and realize you're using double sided tape to stick the back of the device to a surface. I can see battery replacement becoming a problem because the battery is only rated for 6 months. However, something like velcro would have been a better option. br>br>Overall, these are fantastic, especially for the price!.

These were purchased to "supplement" a motion sensor that I was using to turn on my hallway light automatically. This was necessary because the motion sensor doesn't always work correctly, but these sensors have always worked reliably. They're far more reliable than my motion sensor, and they respond much faster. It turned out to be even better than I had anticipated. Only time will tell whether my motion sensor is completely replaced. The two- Packing was also a lot easier because that hallway connects two of my main rooms. Both sensors were simple to connect and install, as well as to get up and running with my HomeKit setup. as well as automations br>br>Only the "tiniest" of criticisms come to mind. I wish the scannable HomeKit QR codes were included with the devices. Only the numeric codes for manual input are printed on the devices, and the QR codes are only found in the manual. Aside from that, I wish the attachment solution had been closer to the "two-part" solution. For future battery replacement, I used my own "piece, snap together" command strips (which I already had). However, despite the fact that they use standard 3M adhesive, they have thought ahead and included a couple of replacement pieces for both pieces of the sensors.
