Questions & Answers

Will this work with any brand of air conditioner split unit?

I have a variety of inverter brands throughout my house, and they all work so far.

Does it work for a cable television decoder in Colombia? These decoders are generic. Gracias?

It is truly compatible with a wide range of brands and products, and I am confident that it will be useful to you.

Is it possible for me to use this to turn our heating blanket on and off?

IR isn't likely to be present in your blanket. Instead, you're most likely considering a wifi-enabled wall plug. However, for safety reasons, it's probably not a good idea to put an electric blanket on any type of internet of things control. Instead, unplug when not in use.

Is it possible to control zigbee IR devices with this device?

I've had numerous issues and have never been able to achieve complete control. To get basic functions, you'll need to install additional apps. ITFF, SmartThings, and Smart K were the tools I used. You can also use a zigbee hub to get around it.

Put your thinking cap on and get ready to think
3/5

To be honest, for what it does, this is a reasonably priced item. It communicates with IR devices very well, and the range is impressive; however, the app and smart integration with Google Home and IFTTT will cause many people to abandon it. It doesn't "just work" (at least not in my experience). I do, however, enjoy taking on new challenges, and since I discovered some workarounds, it has definitely piqued the nerdy side of my brain, allowing me to control my TV, AVR, air conditioner, and fan using only voice commands. I wish I could connect it to my sofa baton in some way, but I believe that is a hardware limitation of that remote. One quick note: Google Home will not recognize "DIY" devices set up via the smart life app. After nearly an hour of attempting to link my Google Home account with smart life, I discovered that it was indeed linked after the first attempt, but that only "official" non-DIY devices would appear in that app. I gave up on Google Home integration in favor of integrating IFTTT with Google Assistant and creating tap-to-run tasks in the smart life app. The only issue is that you'll have to be creative with your voice commands because if Google already has that command in its database, your command will be ignored. Instead of saying "turn on my fan" and getting an error message saying that the device hasn't been setup, I can say "fan Speed low" or "fan Speed off," and my fan will obey the commands I set up in the smart life app. Whoever dares to go down this rabbit hole, best of luck. br>br>Recent changes: br>br> When it comes to creating scenes in the smart life app, I prefer using Google routines through the Google Home app. Best of luck to you!.

If you're in the United States, you'll notice some flaws
3/5

I really wanted to like this IR blaster because it was going to be used to control my new mini split air conditioner. However, I had to return it due to a scheduling conflict. However, perhaps this will assist someone in deciding whether or not to purchase it. Customers in the United States may benefit from this review.     br>br>The device's main advantage is its low price, which is significantly lower than that of other, more complex air conditioner control devices. After downloading the Smart Life App, I was able to get it up and running in under 5 minutes. It had no trouble turning on and off my Mitsubishi air conditioner.   The issue with the device is that the list of Mitsubishi ACs that it supports all display the temperature. Not Fahrenheit, but Celcius. There is no way to change this in the application. It didn't have complete control over all of my air conditioning options, either. It was unable to control the vanes' movement. I also downloaded the Tuya app, which is the same as the Smart Life app, because the device is powered by Tuya. They both use the same air conditioning database. backed up by Because the device appears to be used in many countries that use Celcius, this is not an issue for them.   If you just want a cheap way to turn on and off your mini-computer, this is the place to go. This will work if you have a split air conditioner. All you have to do now is convert Fahrenheit to Celsius.

It's simple to add a DIY remote control
5/5

I attempted to set up the remote hub near my AT as suggested. But I couldn't get the Smart Life app to work with my T router. After a few failed attempts, I moved as far away from the router as possible, and the setup was relatively simple from there. The Hub is linked to the two computers. 4GHz, with the 5GHz band becoming weaker as you get further away from the router, making it easier to connect to the 2. 4GHz band. br>An older Sony TV's remote was simple to set up, but an even older JVC CD Audio system required a DIY remote that was simple to set up using the original remote, the MoesGO WI-FI. The Simple Life app is compatible with the Fi IR Remote Hub. br>br>I've been using the Logitech Harmony remote and hubs for several years and, despite my best efforts, I couldn't get them to learn the JVC Audio system's codes. I strongly advise you to use the MoesGo Wi-Fi. Because of its excellent DIY code learning capabilities, Fi IR Hub is a great choice.

It's an intriguing device, but there are a few things to keep in mind: first, it requires some technical expertise
4/5

It takes a certain amount of know-how to set up, and when working with smart home assistants, those interfaces limit you. I have almost complete control over my phone thanks to this app. From my phone, I can control the television, stereo, fan, and air conditioning. I can turn devices on and off when I'm using Alexa. Before you can control your devices with Google, you must first tell it to activate smart life. It's a bit clumsy, but that's probably how Google works. The best part is that if I can't find my remotes, I can usually find my phone. The second best feature is that I can use Alexa to turn on the fan or air conditioning without having to get up from my couch. Both of these factors make it worthwhile to purchase; it is actually quite affordable, and who enjoys getting up after having sat down? In terms of voice control, devices that were not designed with voice control in mind from the start will continue to struggle. What we really need is an open standard, or if that's not possible, a single unified echo system.

Customers in the United States should pay attention
3/5

If you can find the device you want to control remotely in the app's (SmartLife) extensive database, you should have little trouble getting it to work remotely via Wi Fi. But. Hunter sells ceiling fans in the United States, which the manufacturers are completely unaware of. So you go to the DIY device section and look at the completely insufficient instructions. This should be used if your device isn't listed in the app database. No matter what you do or how loud you cuss, what the instructions say to do and what actually happens are two different things. I programmed a Mitsubishi mini-computer. In under 2 minutes, you'll have a split. I tried for hours to turn a ceiling fan (Hunter) on or off. No deal. It's not even close. I'd buy a different IR blaster from a different manufacturer if I wasn't so cheap, but I'm guessing they're all made by the same Chinese company and use the same database. In addition, if your device has a temperature sensor, the control app only works in Celsius.

I'm having trouble with RF remote learning
3/5

Well, I was hoping that this would allow me to automate turning on and off my projector setup as well as a fan light, but none of the RF features are working for me, and my IR remote for my projector screen isn't being recognized either. The projector will not work if the buttons are programmed manually. The projector and my receiver will be turned on and off, but that's about it.
