Questions & Answers
This model doesn't seem to do much RF, in my opinion. It's possible that you'll require a more advanced model. The Broadlink website has a much better explanation of what each model does than Amazon's descriptions.
Yes, as long as your Smart Remote is within range of the box and you have an active Internet connection. A compatible app is installed on the connected phone or tablet to control it. While you're on vacation, have a good time freaking out the babysitter!
This device can be used with any IR receiver. This will not control the device if it uses a radio signal. Because the remote claims to work through walls, I don't believe this will work with that fan. This indicates that it is unlikely to be an IR remote.

br>(1) As others have pointed out, the user agreement allows Broadlink to store your WiFi AP name and password in their cloud service, which is dubious at best. Be aware. br>(2) the app's user interface is extremely user-unfriendly and appears to have not been updated in at least 10 years. br>(3) you CAN use Siri Shortcuts to integrate scenes with Apple HomeKit - Once you've created a scene in the broadlink app, you can assign a key phrase to trigger it using the "add to Siri" button at the bottom of the scene. (4) On iOS, at least, the app consumes a lot of power. It took me about an hour to set up some basic controls and scenes, and during that time, my iPhone 2012 Pro (iOS 15) became extremely hot, and the settings app reported that the broadlink app had used 65% of my battery in 60 minutes. It ate through battery at an alarming rate even when left running in the background. br>br>I needed a replacement for my old Harmony remote that could work with HomeKit. For me, this was not the end. Yes, it works and it can be done, but the user-unfriendly app, battery issues, and the storage of my WiFi data on Broadlink servers were all a resounding "nope" in the end.
Programming is easy. Works with televisions, window air conditioners, ceiling fans, and anything else with an IR remote. You can either use their extensive files or use your remote to control it. Remove the batteries from the remote and toss it in the junk drawer once it's been programmed! It's perfectly compatible with Google Home.
Although it communicates well with the majority of devices, it also has the option of learning and configuring itself with a remote control. This is a good option for centralizing all of your devices and then connecting them to Alexa via a skills or a routine.
I liked it; I already had the other one, which is simpler; what I liked about this one is that it tells me the temperature of the room in which it is installed; it's a product that works well with Google Home and Alexa; and it's a product that comes highly recommended.
This was exactly what I needed to use Alexa and my Android tablet or phone to control my TV and stereo.
Very good.
I am in perfect working order.
It was a little difficult to set up, but it met my need to turn my television into an intelligent device.
