Aqara Motion Sensor, REQUIRES AQARA HUB, Zigbee Connection, for Alarm System and Smart Home Automation, Broad Detection Range, Compatible with Apple HomeKit, Alexa, Works With IFTTT

10/19/20 Update: I gave these sensors a one-star rating. Despite multiple attempts, the motion and vibration sensors are unable to reconnect to Smartthings. New batteries didn't help; they only lasted about a day before I had to delete and re-add them. This is far too inconvenient. br>br>Integrating these with Smartthings can be difficult. The following is my experience with them and how I went about adding them: br>br>Step 1 - Make a list of all the things you want to do. In the Smartthings Groovy IDE, add the device handlers for each sensorbr>I added these devices to my Smartthings hub (v2) by grabbing the code for the device handlers for each sensor from github, which was published by user bspranger (ArstenA in the Smartthings community forum). I started pairing mode by long pressing the reset button on the sensors, then adding the devices to the Smartthings Classic app on my Android phone (i. e. "additionally," as in "additionally," or "additionally," br>br>Second Step - Using the Smartthings Classic app to pair sensorsbr>It took a few tries to get the motion sensor to pair. I was able to pair the motion sensor by long pressing the reset button, then waiting for three quick blinks before short pressing reset. The vibration sensors were much more difficult, requiring several minutes of pressing the reset button repeatedly every few seconds. A red error banner appeared after a few minutes of short pressing reset, which was actually a good thing. I exited the "add a thing" tab after the error, returned to "add a thing," and the sensor appeared right away. Another issue was that pairing a second vibration sensor knocked out the first one, requiring me to re-pair it. Re-pair the first sensor if necessary. Fortunately, after a lot of patience and persistence, both were successfully added. The vibration sensors took about 30 minutes to integrate, while the motion sensor took only a few minutes. Sensor function: br>br>Sensor type: br>br>Sensor type: br>br>S br>The vibration sensors are extremely sensitive and responsive, with three levels of sensitivity to choose from: low, medium, and high. In addition to vibration, they report tilt as well. Because the motion sensor is so small and sensitive, I had to mount it high and point it upwards to keep it from being tripped by my cat. It's perfect for automating the lights in my bathroom, and I appreciate how small it is. br>br>rating: br>br>rating: br>br>rating: Despite the difficulties I had pairing them with Smartthings, I'm giving these sensors five stars so far. The low price is incredible, as is the ultra-small form factor, and the sensors have a nice, high-quality feel to them. When the manufacturer intended for these sensors to be used with their own hub, I can't say I blame them. They appear to work quite well, and I owe a debt of gratitude to the Smartthings community, particularly bspranger, for providing the code and instructions for integrating these devices. This isn't for the inexperienced smart home user. br>br>After a few months of use with these sensors, I'll update this review.

For three months, they were effective. Both of them refused to connect to my hub when I tried to move them to different locations for my new smart home plan. br>br>At first, I mistook them for broken after dropping them. Then I disassembled them and discovered nothing was wrong with them. I'm trying to figure out why by reading online discussions. Cause: br>br> My zigbee smart bulb is from Sylvania. It has the ability to function as a zigbee repeater. Some aqara battery-powered sensors, on the other hand, are known to be non-compliant with the zigbee protocol. When a non-zigbee compliant aqara sensor comes into contact with a standard zigbee repeater, it will attempt to connect to the hub via the repeater and will eventually drop out of the network. My aqara thermometer appears to be able to use my sylvania light bulb as a repeater, but my aqara motion sensors have simply dropped out of the network. br>Aqara compatible light bulbs are available, with IKEA being the most well-known brand. aqara and IKEA are now officially partners. br>br>Solution: br>br> br>Ideally, either your aqara devices or your aqara incompatible smart bulbs should be removed. br>This can be inconvenient. Because of its short report interval, aqara thermometer is compatible with most zigbee repeaters. Because aqara thermometer is the only option available. br>In terms of motion detectors, Samsung SmartThings motion detectors are compatible with nearly all zigbee-compatible devices (unless you count the confusion between ZLL and ZHA 2). ZHA 3 is the result of combining 0 and ZHA. 0). I shifted my attention to Samsung at this point. br>br>Otherwise, keep your aqara incompatible devices far away from your aqara battery-powered sensors so that your aqara sensors don't try to connect to those repeaters. br>br>Once incompatible devices have been removed, you can reset your aqara motion sensor and pair it again. This may take some time. br>Press the reset button for three seconds until it blinks three times, then keep it awakened by pressing the reset button every two seconds until the pairing is complete. original review - br>br>- br>br>- br>- br>- br>- br> br>There were two of them in my possession. They were working fine until today. My only gripe is that the cool-down period is excessively long, but this isn't a major issue for me. br>br>Today, I was moving a motion sensor and it fell to the ground. It abruptly ceased to function. I tried everything I could think of to get it to connect to my hub, but nothing worked. br>br>Well, I was beginning to believe I was cursed. This does occur. So, splash!, I moved another aqara motion sensor to the new location. It, too, had fallen! This time, it's only 3 feet tall! I can't possibly be this unlucky, can I? br>br>It worked out fine. This one, too, broke! They had perfect motion detection, but they couldn't connect!br>br>It was a sad story. Takeaway: br>br> It's a good option if you're looking for a low-cost zigbee motion sensor. When I tried to install the product, I discovered that it required an Aqara hub. I double-checked the product description on Amazon, and yes, that requirement is stated, but only as a footnote near the bottom of the page. This should have been stated right at the start of the description. It is stated right away that it is HomeKit compatible, but no mention is made of the need for a hub. Furthermore, reading the user manual necessitates the use of a magnifying glass, and it only covers the most basic of information. The website is only marginally useful. The devices will be returned to me.

Negative feedback should be ignored. This is a Zigbee motion sensor that needs to be connected to the Aqara hub to function. The hub activates the Homekit feature, which makes all devices connected to the Aqara hub available to Homekit. The Phillips Hue (another Zigbee-based platform) achieves Homekit capability in the same way. br>br>It's small, but it's done a fantastic job so far. The apple home app registers motion almost instantly. Unlike many other motion sensors, the sensor itself is appealing. It's just a small cylinder, about 1. 25 inches in diameter. 5" tall It includes a stand that allows you to stick and orient the device in any direction you want.
