All I have to say about that is that. In order for the bolts to thread through the weld nuts, this additional piece of metal is spot-welded to the inside of the bolts, and has been tapped out to facilitate their threading.
That will be the case. In my case, the OD measured 8x8, and it fitted perfectly.
Take a look at the description of the product. There are 8 inches of height on it.
In the item description, it is stated that way. The only thing I know is what I've written.

I was attracted to the product description below and decided to buy it. The Forever Cap Diamond Mesh Professional Model is the single-flue diamond mesh model. This is a heavy-duty, 100% stainless steel mug. This chimney cap is heavier and stronger than any other cap made overseas. The hood and base of the hood are formed out of 24 gauge roll formed steel. The mesh screening is 8 inches high. The mesh has diamond holes 3/4 inch in diameter, which prevent creosote build-up. will prevent The base will not bow when tightened to the flue tile. There is nothing else that even comes close to it. I received an item which stated that it was manufactured using "WELD NUTS", but I was not able to find any of these weld nuts welded to the flange as seen in the photos I received. of tapping out the thin sheet metal to save money and duplicate it, the manufacturer simply used his hammer! Currently, there is only one The report regarding this issue is the same as that in the reviews I read prior to purchasing this item. There is no reason to suspect the manufacturer will make this product without changing its features or taking steps to improve its You will have to modify the chimney cap yourself, so be prepared!.
I really like the design of this The quality of the product is also good. The top of this item was covered with large scrapes and a few gouges. It was around 5 stars if it hadn't arrived with scrape marks all over the top. After spraying several coats of Silver Rustoleum, the vehicle was complete. My eyes were drawn to its beauty. Match made in heaven. After it was painted, it is shown in the above picture. The Rustoleum will protect it so you cannot even tell, and even if you could, you wouldn't know. I had it installed on my new chimney last week, and it looks great. It's amazing how much nicer these ones are.
Despite being quite thin, this cap is most likely suitable for the use it is designed for. Additionally, the welds were spot welded, so I hope these hold up to the salty climate and air of Florida. Probably will need to wait a few months and check it to see if it makes sense to continue using the cap. Taking a few minutes to install, it was easy to install, came with screws, and came with instruction manual. I like the way it looks and it's not quite as tall as it appears in the photo so that's good.
By adding weld nuts, the bolts are held in place with more strength. In order to come up with 14", the hood must be measured diagonally. There is no better chimney cap than this one. Prior to purchasing, I shopped around a lot and found this to be the best deal.
A great way to prevent birds, rain, and bats from clogging the chimney and keep it dry. I will warn you that the metal is thin and will easily cut you while it is being installed. After I sliced my forearm when I reached around to tighten the back bolt, I knew this all too well. It does not mean that the metal is thin enough for it to be fragile.
There is a flue cap on each of my flues. It is a well engineered part made of quality material, and it should last for several lifetimes.
The chimney doesn't rust, and they can be easily removed for cleaning.
