There is a good chance they sent you the wrong cap, mine was square just like the description said. You should be able to exchange it without problem, and then you should get the correct item.

It was a good product, though I had to make a few adjustments as I am not knowledgeable about chimneys

The clay chimney lining I wanted to put a cap on was 9" by 9". The next size, I believe, was 13" by 13". I had to add a piece of metal on each side of the cap to secure the whole thing since the cap was the same size as the top of the chimney clay liner.

Nice job on the This product is of a premium As for the threads, I expected a welded nut, but they're just tapped into the tin

I'm not going to rush it since it fits snugly on the chimney and has a longer lifespan There is no doubt in my mind that I will purchase this again in the future.
