The mine is installed at the bottom of the chimney on the outside. Using a good adhesive and four screws in the tabs is the best approach for me
That opening is the right size for it. Putting in the cleanout door is super simple, and it has small flaps that can be bent to fit openings with slightly tighter dimensions.

Having looked for an 8 x 10 cleanout door in the past and found few good choices, I thought I would give this one a shot. This is a very good job, I must say. Compared to a cast iron door, it was way easier to install. Keeping the surrounding brick clean around the hole, scratching up the backside of the new door enclosure with sandpaper for a better grip, then cleaning it with acetone to remove any oil stains was all I needed to do. Then I applied a thick bead of construction adhesive, all around (on the back of course) it took about half an hour total The distance from the edge should be one inch. During the 24 hours it took the adhesive to cure, I pushed the surround in place and leaned something heavy on it to keep it in place. I found the process to be very easy and easy to use. Thank you for this. I'm very satisfied. This is a route I would do again without a doubt.
I returned it. In my opinion, the second one is worse than the first. I bought this piece of sheet metal for $70 Putting your product in the right package is the least you can do. My next step will be to find another manufacturer.
Installation is as simple as sticking it.
It works exactly as promised. Clean out door for the chimney/ash.
The product is robust, well-made, and easy to install.
The material seems flimsy, but the ease of assembly makes it easier. Rust shouldn't build up on it.
It was bent when it arrived, but it was easy to flatten out and install it well. So far, it looks good, we'll see how long it lasts.
As I removed the forty year old ratty door, I was surprised how well the new one fit. You have done a great job.
