There are 8 holes in it, making it a little taller than a gallon of paint. Unless otherwise stated, measurements are accurate. Please see pictures for more information. There are two tabs with teeth that engage with the chimney pipe, but a couple sheet metal screws will give more security to the installation. It is lightweight, offers unrestricted airflow, and is easy to It is only possible for wind driven or sideways rain to blow into and down the chimney. Make sure the top of the chimney pipe is covered with a larger diameter lid, or find a similar fix. As a local code requirement, I cut a piece of expanded metal screen to fit inside the grill and install it inside to reduce opening sizes.
Product works great, but I didn't get any instructions with my unit. You would have to bend the tabs out of the way to make it fit tightly. To be on the safe side, I put in a few screws.
I really like the cap. There was a problem with the package when it arrived. Despite the contractor being able to bang out the dents, the cap did not look that good from 30 feet away, so the work was costly.
It's a good price too. The measurements provided by this company were more precise than those given by other companies. I really liked how true to size this was!.
