What is the width of the cap at the base of the I don't want to know where the pipe goes in I want to know the actual width covered by the cap. Is it possible to say thanks ahead of time?

This is for a 6" pipe, and the dome at the top is 12" in diameter A 1/4 inch

What is the best way to attach this to a 6" pipe? Is it simply a slipping over the pipe, or will it go inside? Do I need any adapters or will this work on its own ?

The pipe connector fits inside the pipe and does not require any adapters.
