Although the purple board is an excellent product, I would not use it outside.
For interior work, plaster weld is a suitable substitute.
I'm not a believer in it, but I did use it as a binding agent to help the motor stick to the block wall. As an alternative to a motor, no.

It was simple to put the product on. I sanded the previously painted concrete wall to prepare it for the application of this product. Then, about a week later, I applied the product and completed the stuccoing. The thinness with which I was able to apply the coat astounded me. I was able to apply a very fine finish coat using only about a half or a third of the thickness specified in the stucco base directions, saving on both stucco base and application time.
Look at it this way: the connection is strong and unbreakable. The bond has held for the past 20 years. More were recently purchased to adhere a new stucco wall to an existing stucco wall - As a result, the bond is unbreakable and uncrackable. It's more durable than if we'd built the new wall from scratch. It's also used to "stick" grey coat to concrete blocks for crack-filling purposes. rendering of a proof Perfect.
Works in the same way as lath.
Repairing stucco is a breeze with this product.
If you use less than 1 1/2" of new material, you'll get cracking, so dilute the mix. I used 1/8"- No cracks in 1/4" of new material made with a 3:1 mix of Weld and water. It's just my personal taste.
Had to return because I didn't need it right now.
