The entire shower (cement board and seams) was treated with redgard. I painted the first coat, let it dry overnight, and then painted the second coat.
Our RedGard was purchased from Home Depot. It's always in stock at that location.
It peels up easily once it has dried.

Seriously, this is the best shower and tile waterproofing membrane on the market. At my previous residence, I installed the Schluter system, which was a pain in the neck. This is 100x easier and, in my opinion, more effective because you can easily see if there is a weak spot, whereas with these schlueter, you can only hope that the thinset seals properly. This is also a LOT less expensive than a schluter system. Seriously, this is the only thing I recommend to people now; it's incredible! br>Take a look at some of the videos on YouTube to see how good it is. br>Double your corner thickness and Bob's your uncle (he probably isn't, but you get the idea).
After learning that one gallon wasn't enough, I had to go local and get a 3gal bucket of this to finish my floor.
It works well, but the cost is higher when purchased online.
Before installing tiles, I used this method to waterproof the drywall. It stays put even if you slather it on thickly in the corners. The fact that the color changes from pink to red when it is dry is extremely useful. It's easy to see if you missed any spots once it's dried to a dark red.
If you're tired of carport leaks on a metal roof and don't mind the color red, this product is tough and prevents leaks around screw heads and between metal sheets.
Good product, but I was more impressed with the customer service provided by the supplier I chose, Max Warehouse, when an issue arose.
You must determine how much of this you require in order to complete your work. If you only have enough time to finish the job, don't do anything else. However, it's a fantastic product. It is something I strongly suggest.
Now! A fantastic product for creating a rubber water barrier in your shower, tub, or wall projects. There aren't enough positive words to describe this.
