I started with the base, then the liner, then the weep hole, and finally the top layer of thin set. I also watched some U Tub videos on how to build a shower pan, some of which were very instructive.
The thickness is less than a quarter of an inch. It should have no impact on the thickness of your mortar bed. Because the mortar has grooves and flats (top and bottom), you won't lose any appreciative hickness. You'll be fine if you use good floor mud.

THOUGHT IT WOULD BE BETTER THAN USING SMALL ROCK AS IN THE PAST. br>BY MISTAKE, ORDERED TWO. TO RETURN ON, THEY WOULD LIKE TO CHARGE ME NEARLY WHAT I HAD PAID FOR. PRACTICES IN BUSINESS THAT ARE CRUMMY. br>THAT MEANS IT'S GOING INTO THE TRASH CAN. SAD.
This was purchased solely to ensure that my weep holes were not blocked. I was confident that pebbles would have worked fine, but I thought the added assurance I'd get from this product would be worth it, especially since I installed a pebble tile floor in the shower and knew that with the massive amount of grout, more water would be dripping into the finish mortar bed. I used two coats of a higher-quality sealer on my grout, but I'm still worried about water penetrating because there's so much of it. Those who use Sioux Chief brand three-piece drains should be aware of this. The drain from that particular brand is higher off the ground than the Oatey drain. If you've ever put in a three-phase power supply, you'll know what I'm talking about If you look those two up, you'll see what I'm talking about. Because of the way this weep hole protector sits on top of it, your mortar bed around the drain may be a little thin. To counteract this, I used a utility knife to make small holes where the three bolts that hold the drain piece in place are located. As a result, the weep hole protector could sit lower, and the mortar bed at the drain was about 3/16" or 1/4" thicker. While this may not appear to be much, it is something, and any additional thickness in that area is beneficial. Overall, the product is excellent, and I have peace of mind knowing that my shower weep holes will drain properly.
It's very professional and it's very effective.
My only criticism is that it does not include instructions on how to install it for those of us who do not have perfect pitch sticks, such as myself.
It's nice; the four stars are due to the fact that it appears to be expensive! I was able to get the entire shower drain for a lower price!.
We poured concrete in the shower area and attached this product by the drain on my bathroom remodel, and it served its purpose. br>br>If you're going to put tiles in your shower, I strongly advise you to use this product instead of pebbles. It will give you more peace of mind and ensure that your weep holes do not become clogged.
I've been using them for a few years now and they're fantastic.
I'm not sure if it's just me, but I never used it because when I screwed the drain down, it did the reverse umbrella on me. I'm sure the mud would have made it return to its original position, but it irritated me for some reason. But it's a good concept.
