Can you tell me how long the unit is? There are six igniters in my existing system. A quarter of an inch. ?

The length is 7 1/2 inches and the width is 1 1/4 inches, so it is a little longer than the original, but I like it better because the wire is not exposed.

Has this ignitor been fitted with a metal heat shield?

You are referring to the metal in the picture, so yes it does come in that form

I may have taken a chance that it would work in the I used it, it worked beautifully, and it was identical to the OEM part, but it took longer to reach the desired temperature. It was an easy replacement (I won't talk about the issues I discovered with the range) and.

The igniter arrived a little sooner than I expected, but I paid an extra $2 for a quicker shipping service, expecting that to happen about 4 days after I ordered it

After one day I was pleasantly surprised to receive it! I installed it into my Blue Star oven, and it is working In order to install the new igniter, I adjusted the ceramic portion of the igniter a bit longer than the OEM igniter that was in my Blue Star. This is a great solution!.
