Questions & Answers

What is the best location for this filter to be installed?

Open the door to the ice machine. To open, simply tap the upper plastic panel. The filter can be found in the upper right corner of the screen. Remove the old filter and replace it with the new one using the plastic handle that came with the filter.

Is it possible to use this on a free-standing Kitchen Aid ice maker?

Mine isn't sure if it's under the counter, but it could be free standing and still work. You'll be able to send it back to Amazon. You can also use Google to look up your make and model number. Another option is to remove your filter (while the unit is turned off) and obtain the part number from it, which you can then use to locate a replacement.

Before using, the filter should be flushed with 4 gallons of water, according to the instructions on the box. In an ice machine, how would you accomplish this?

Obviously, you can't do that, so the ice maker instructions recommend installing the filter and making ice, but discarding the first few tubs of ice (water is 16 pounds per gallon). My ice machines produce 20 pounds of ice every day. As a result, I toss out the first three. Half a day of ice, possibly more if the taste is off. Whatever the case may be, by the fifth day, my ice usually tastes fine. Some ice makers have an accelerated mode that can produce up to 30 or 40 pounds of ice per day - Then only two days' worth of ice must be discarded.

What makes an ice filter different from a refrigerator filter?

The water that runs into the ice maker passes through this filter. This ice maker is self-contained.

I gave it a three because I believe that all of these ice filters and water filters, regardless of who makes or sells them, are overpriced
5/5

It's a gimmick, in a way.

It's a little pricey, but Amazon has it for less
4/5

This is a simple and easy-to-install water filter for your Kenmore-style washing machine. branded (but Whirlpool-made) ice maker – from start to finish, it takes less than 30 seconds, assuming you have already taken the new one out of the box. If there was one thing I could change, it would be that it was designed to last longer – but then again, Sears wouldn't have the recurring revenue stream if they made them last longer. br>br>The filters are pricey for what you get, but ordering them from Amazon saves me about $30 over going to my local Sears appliance store. If you need a Kenmore water filter cartridge, I recommend purchasing one from Amazon rather than from the manufacturer. putting in the effort to go to the store and paying a higher price.

Filter with a short life span
3/5

This replacement filter did not last as long as our original ice machine filter, which lasted seven months but only four months. We had an ice machine repairman come out because it had stopped making ice; we assumed it was broken, but it turned out that the filter had become clogged. These filters, he said, have a tendency to clog up too quickly. He also stated that the ice machine could be used without the filter. We'll do it this way because buying a filter every four months isn't cost effective.

The image is deceiving
3/5

The image/description is extremely deceiving! There is only ONE filter in this product. TWO filters are shown in the advertisement. One pack and one item are mentioned in the description.

Water filter for Whirlpool ice makers
5/5

At around $50 every four to six months, it's a bit pricey. Because of the high calcium content in my city water, I have to use them. In the water line leading to the ice maker's input, I also installed a filter. The additional filter gives the ice maker a new lease on life. This is the fifth Whirlpool ice maker I've owned. These screwdrivers cost $50 each. It is much easier to install in-filters than it is to install in-line filters. the ones in a line You'll need the filters with any of these ice makers that have a wire grid that cuts the ice sheet into ice squares.

It was a breeze to set up

The ice we get is of excellent quality, and I have no complaints. It appears to be a little pricey at first, but it lasts months.

Installing it was a breeze
5/5

Installation is simple, and the product lasts for six months. I wish it had monthly stickers to remind me when I needed to replace them.

It appeared to be devoid of life
3/5

There didn't seem to be any fluid in the replacement ice maker filter. Nothing came out of it when I turned it over to pour into the water pan. It was also very light in weight. br> It's time to rethink things. order.
