Questions & Answers

What was the rationale for such a significant price increase? A few months ago, I got this for under $30. ?

While I agree that the EveryDrop filters are overpriced (and unfortunately, they continue to rise), I disagree with D.'s first response. Selvage is correct in his assessment of why they are more expensive. The Everydrop filter outperforms the cheaper filters by filtering out a lot of contaminants that the others let through. (And data from honest, less expensive brands on Amazon and elsewhere will attest to this.) br>br>EveryDrop complies with NSF/ANSI Standards 42 and 53. The more expensive ones have a 402, while the cheaper ones don't. If you don't need the extra filtration, the less expensive filters will suffice. Because I'm concerned about public water supplies flowing through old infrastructure, I prefer better filtration. br>br>As for the poster who claimed that the filters contained lead, that is incorrect; however, lead is one of the contaminants that the EveryDrop filters (thankfully) remove. Furthermore, EveryDrop's packaging does not include a Prop 65 warning.

I'm curious about the origins of this product. ?

Made with globally sourced materials is a way of saying they don't want to admit it's made of Chinese materials, but it could be put together in the United States.

Is this a genuine original equipment manufacturer (OEM) filter?

Yes, OEM. This is a single four-filter unit, not a four-filter set. br>Manufacturers change their packaging all the time; the last filter I bought on Amazon (with the same logo as the one shown here) had the same exact logo as the one I bought at Home Dep*t.

How long does this product have a shelf life? Can I store the filter safely until I use it if I buy a three-pack?

The openings on the filter are covered by an airtight seal. It will be fine for a long time as long as the seal is in place; just store it in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight (a cabinet in your kitchen would probably suffice) for the 12 months or so before you install the last one (6 months for the first, 6 months for the second, 12 months for the third).

By far the most effective UKF8001 replacement
5/5

The OEM filters are expensive, but they're well worth the money in my opinion. I've looked everywhere for another option that is rated as highly as these for contaminant reduction, but none exist. I haven't been able to find a single filter that is both NSF/ANSI 42 and NSF/ANSI 53, let alone NSF/ANSI 401, to replace UKF8001. All of the less expensive, non-alcoholic options are available. OEM filters that I've seen are only NSF 42 certified, if they're certified at all. I don't see the point in squandering money on a low-cost filter that may or may not be filtering anything when you could spend more money on a filter that removes contaminants like Naproxen and DEET from the water. Do yourself a favor and read this article. Get this filter if you're serious about filtering your water. I've now had four of them, and each one has performed flawlessly.

On the filters, I believe the valves aren't pushed in far enough to allow for adequate water flow
3/5

I've now gone through two of these filters. SLOW FLOW was the end result! I think I've figured out what's going on. If you look at the two raised parts inside the bypass cap that came with the fridge and the filter, you'll see what I mean. The cap is higher than the filter, allowing the flow valve to be pushed in further, allowing more water to flow. On the filters, I believe the valves aren't pushed in far enough to allow for adequate water flow. When they made the filters, they used the wrong plastic mold. The problem, I believe, is not with the filtering, but with the plastic mold itself. It's a pity, because it's a very expensive item.

Is it possible that I received a dud? Whirlpool, what's the matter? I used to get 8 to 12 months out of these filters
3/5

The previous filter was only good for about three months. And I'm a one-person household. The performance was disappointing and deplorable. Is it possible that I received a dud?.

The flow rate on this filter (0
5/5

01) is well worth the premium price. 8gpm) is a significant improvement over the generic replacement I purchased to save money (0. 5gpm,) that it's well worth the premium price (and this Amazon price is better than anything else I could find). In my Maytag french door refrigerator, I used a store brand filter from T H*ME D**OT. The difference in design can be seen in my attached photo: The right-hand filter is larger and has more holes through which the water can flow. The family grumbled that filling glasses took too long; It took an eternity to fill the Keurig reservoir! I timed the old one and it filled a 1 quart jug in almost exactly 60 seconds. This new Everydrop filter took 32 seconds to fill the same jug.

Be wary of shoddy quality control; I got a lemon and was unable to return it
3/5

For about a month, the filter worked perfectly. I was able to draw more than a cup of water from the water dispenser using solid pressure. After a month, the filter has caused the water dispenser to make a loud noise when drawing water, and the pressure is extremely low and slow. br>br>I was able to narrow down the issue to the filter. The loud noise is gone when the old filter is reinstalled or when the By Pass Cap is used, indicating that the problem is with the new filter. I bought these before when Amazon had a two-pack deal and they worked great; I used them for about a year with no problems (although the water pressure did drop as the filter approached a year). I'm not sure what's changed, but based on my research, it appears that the newer model filters are causing problems for others. They aren't as well-made and now cost more than the previous versions, possibly due to poor quality control, given that this item is rated 5 stars and only a few people are experiencing this issue. br>br>When it comes to refrigerator filters, I wish there were more consumer options. I'm no longer able to return the product, but I've tried Amazon's "Get product support" option and received no response. br>br>I'm no longer able to return the product, but I've tried Amazon's "Get product support" option and received no response.

It appears to be quite good, but the manufacturer appears to be far too self-assured
5/5

Recommendation from a refrigerator repairman who replaced a component in my kitchen- KFXS25RYMS0 is a useful tool. Purchase a tube of food-safe white grease. Mine was purchased through the website. amazon makes me happy. com - Apply a small amount to gaskets and any places that touch whenever your refrigerator filter is replaced. This will keep the part that seats the filter from wearing out and losing its seal, allowing the filter to leak. This stuff lasts for two lifetimes in the smallest tube. br>br>As for the filter, it appears to be quite good, but I believe the manufacturer is overly confident in its product. Almost $100 for water filters? Hm-.

The capacity has been reduced from 300 to 200 gallons in the most recent version. Please see the photos attached. Surprisingly, the cost hasn't decreased by a third.

One of the things I didn't want to do tonight was number one on my list of things I didn't want to do
3/5

I threw out at least a hundred dollars' worth of spoiled food from my refrigerator, took out every shelf and drawer, and soaked up 2 gallons of water from the inside, replacing the filter as usual. When I returned a few hours later, the thing was running water down the back wall of the fridge, so I opened the door. I turned off the water and took out the filter, only to discover that it had arrived with a hairline crack in the head. (As seen in the photo. ) ) There is a serious lack of quality control. I have to pay $45 every six months for a filter, for example. It's an understatement to say I'm irritated. br>br>ADDITIONAL UPDATE: br>br>ADDITIONAL UPDATE: br>br>ADDIT Despite the fact that this is an official Whirlpool product sold through an official "storefront" on Amazon, neither Whirlpool nor Amazon will accept responsibility for the damaged product I received. I've spent 6 weeks going back and forth between the two (my return window has now closed) trying to figure out how to get a replacement at no cost since I was sent a replacement by Amazon. Amazon won't refund or replace it unless I send it back at my expense, and Whirlpool won't do anything about it because I didn't order directly from their website, despite the fact that they run this Amazon store and their number is listed as the contact for customer service issues. Both Amazon and Whirlpool/Maytag/Kitchen-Aid provide absolutely HORRIBLE customer service. Aid.
