The drain hose on the product arrived with multiple holes in it, so if 0 stars were possible I would give it that. Like someone literally hit a sander against the sides with a ratchet or pulled it across a concrete sidewalk. Dissatisfied with the service. I returned them right away!.
I replaced my original hose with this one as long as the length differed. There were no items in the big box stores that I was looking for. Lack of hardware and the length of the course were the only negatives. Originally, the hose was six feet long. It is now four feet long. Is works, but it only lasts for a little while. In terms of the original hardware, I could reuse it. If they had included screws and brackets, they wouldn't have paid much.
This is the only hose compatible with a GE washer, and I was unable to find it locally without special ordering. My original hose sprung a leak due to being pinched while being installed. I should have trust the blue big box store to set it up correctly. It took me much less time to order from Amazon and have it installed than if I had ordered My goal with this hose was to make sure it would run in the right direction and get rid of any pinch points so that it would last longer. As someone with a GE washer, I don't know of many options without modifiying your machine. This is pretty simple and in my opinion should work for as long as you don't damage it in any way in the process.
As shown in the photo, the GE WH41X10096 exterior washer drain hose is what I needed and exactly what I got. As with the original hose that I replaced, the replacement hose is made from thin plastic, so any vibrations between it and the concrete will quickly cause it to bend. This is a very easy to install product. Neither big box store nor online retailer had this replacement part.
There was a problem with the hose that I received. I had to return it because it wasn't the right part Also, the picture does not match the one I need (which is the one I actually My washer isn't working for the time being, so I'll have to spend another $20 at the local coin op laundromat. This is what I sent to the seller via email. Updated Update on the 24th of June 2013 - Received a reply from the Thank you for the picture of the item. Good morning! Thanks for sending the picture of the item. The item ordered is the correct one. After checking our inventory twice, I found that the item number matches the part number of the order. You are more than welcome to return the item for a refund. ***UPDATE ****>Seller is demanding I pay the shipping to return my items. Upon contacting Amazon, they gave me a credit for the incorrect part they sent. I'm not sure why they did this. It was the wrong hose that I threw away. Please note.
I installed this genuine GE part in my Moffat clothes washer with no problems. There is a company called Moffat that makes GE products. Be sure to clean the friction fit receptacle you will insert the drain hose into before installing it. That way, you won't get any grit or dirt interfering Drain the old hose when it is removed so that there is no water left to damage the new one. You may find that warming the plastic with a hair dryer helps when bending the expansion hose at top and bottom in order to make it fit your washer and the standing drain pipe. In the flexible joints of a cold pipe, it is more difficult to bend without cracking the pipe. A very thin film of silicone grease [not silicone caulking] was used as well. The new hose will be more easily attached if it is easier to slip in. Do not forget to install a hose clip to secure the hose in position. I recommend GE part WH16X513 - it works great and is great value!.
In the previous hose, which was approximately 6 years old, a couple of small holes occurred near the corrugated portion, so a new one was required. Ate my way to the local big box hardware store, bought a 'universal' one, cut the end to fit in the washer, and The seal isn't as good as it should be. Added it to my cart a few minutes later and received it the next morning. I found installation to be quick and straightforward- The drain plug fitted right into the drain port on the back of the washer, which I was able to secure. I have not noticed any leaks since it was installed. I was very satisfied after 1 and 2. After 5 months, the washer has seen lots of action!.
The compatiblity was checked and it was easy to install, just reused the old clip and did a test run of draining the machine so far it is working as intended. I'm going to replace the runner water supply hoses with metal ones in the next project, and that should make me feel a little.
